• Vacation Bible School 2015

    Dyllis Baptist
    Classes for ages 3 through eighth grade will be available during vacation Bible school at Dyllis Baptist Church, Harriman. Classes will be from 6 to 8:45 p.m. July 13-17 at the church at 530 Dyllis Road; a jump-start VBS cookout will begin at 5 p.m. July 12. “Journey Off the Map: Unknown to Us, Known to Him” is the theme.

  • White to lead Business Fellowship

    Chris White, director of the Freedom Ministry at Knoxville’s Fuse Church, will be the guest speaker during the next Christian Business Fellowship of Roane County meeting.

    The meeting will begin at 8 a.m. June 20 in Harriman Shoney’s.

    “Their greatest passion is to see people set free, raised up and operating in their gifts and callings in God,” said Dee Mann of Rockwood’s Healing Rooms and River Gate Church, in describing White and his wife, Deb.

  • Two a.m. services at New Midway

    New Midway Baptist Church, Kingston, now has two Sunday morning services.

    The services begin at 8:45 and 11 a.m.

    “To the Edge: Encounter the God of the Universe” is the vacation Bible school theme at Batley Baptist Church near Oliver Springs.   • Central salutes military on anniversary

    The church commemorated its anniversary with a two-day celebration: Saturday’s was a salute to the military, and Sunday’s had a special church service and luncheon afterward.

  • Harriman letter carriers donate food to Courts of Praise pantry

    Harriman’s Courts of Praise food pantry was the recipient of almost 8 1/2 tons of food collected by Harriman letter carriers during the Stamp Out Hunger campaign last month.

    “They feed over 8,000 people a month,” explained Karen Whittle, Harriman Post Office supervisor.

    Whittle said more than 17,000 cans were collected, exceeding last year’s numbers by more than 7,000 pounds.

    She expressed thanks to all who donated to this year’s campaign.
