  • Great Pumpkin Patch offering decorations, fun group activities

    Rockwood First Christian Church’s Great Pumpkin Patch will open on Oct. 2 to offer the community a venue for fall-decorating supplies and activities.

    The church’s children and youth ministries will benefit from the sales of pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn throughout the month.

    Attractions for groups visiting the Great Pumpkin Patch include pumpkin painting, treats and a children’s story corner. Families are also welcome to bring a camera to take pictures.

  • St. Andrew's plans Blessing of Animals

    St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Harriman will join other churches across the country and around the world on Oct. 9 in the Blessing of the Animals custom.
    The event that will be open to the public. The line of pets — everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and horses — will begin forming at 2 p.m. at the church at 190 Circle Drive.
    The Rector of St. Andrew’s, the Rev. Joseph Pinner, will preside.

  • Sevier Drive celebrating homecoming

    Bro. Jeremy J. Flowers of Memphis will deliver the message for Sevier Drive Church of Christ’s 53rd annual homecoming celebration on Sept. 12.
    Flowers is ministering evangelist at Easthaven Church of Christ. He will be the guest speaker for the 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. services in the church at 1014 Sevier Drive, Harriman.
    The homecoming theme is “Have you robbed yourself of the Truth?”, based on 1 Timothy 6:3-7.
    A brunch and lunch will be served. After the evening service, an all-you-can-eat buffet will be available, compliments of the church.

  • Armes new pastor at Swan Pond church

    Swan Pond Baptist Church, Harriman, has a new pastor.
    Dennis Armes is from Wartburg. He and his wife, Frankie, have been married for 34 years.
    The Armeses have two daughters and five grandchildren.
    Armes is a graduate of Crown College in Powell. He received his doctorate from Anderson Theological Seminary.
    Swan Pond Baptist Church is at 987 Swan Pond Road.
    Sunday school starts at 10 a.m., with worship service at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

  • Cemetery needs upkeep funds

    Funds are needed to pay for maintenance costs of Crab Orchard Cemetery, Oakdale.

  • Mikey Wax giving free concert in Kingston

    Mikey Wax, an up-and-coming independent artist, will stop in Kingston for a  free concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 in Morrison Hill Christian Church Teen Center.
