“Christian Women Listening and Doing” (James 1:19-26) was the theme of the 35th annual Ladies Inspiration Day hosted by Sevier Drive Church of Christ, Harriman.

Chris Amos of Concord Church of Christ, Knoxville, was the guest speaker. A registered dietitian for 20 years, she is presently clinical dietitian for Roane Medical Center, Harriman.

Women from Georgia to upper East Tennessee attended. Twenty-five churches were represented.

“A Homecoming History of Harriman and Harriman City Schools” was a sharing of memories of the “good old days” with an emphasis on the education system. Editor Nancy Wimmer said the first printing sold out within a week. Two surprises the interviewers learned: the inventor of the automatic record changer, Vaughn Butler, lived in Harriman; and Harriman once had buses that ran around the clock.

The Tennessee Quarter Horse Association Holiday Circuit, an American Quarter Horse Association-approved show, will be Dec. 30-Jan. 2 at Roane State Expo Center on the main campus of Roane State Community College.

American Quarter Horse shows test horses’ abilities in dozens of different classes and feature exciting events such as jumping, reining, barrel racing, cutting, roping and pole bending.

There are also halter classes that judge American quarter horses based on balance, muscling and breed characteristics.

Heidi Gerlinda Buck and Daniel Henry Anderson, both of Midway, were married on Oct. 3 in Kingston.

Randy Steele officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Doug and Sally Buck of Springfield.

The groom is the son of Jim and Susanne Anderson of Midway.

The bride, escorted by her father, wore a white strapless gown with metallic accents, crystal beading and sequins with semi-cathedral train. She carried a bouquet of pink lilies.
