Tennessee State Treasurer David Lillard will speak at the Nov. 16 Lunch with the League, a twice-monthly event of the Oak Ridge League of Women Voters.

The luncheon at Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church, 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike, begins at 11:45 a.m. Lunch is available on a first-come, first-served basis for $6.

The program starts at noon.

Lillard was elected state treasurer in January 2009.

He is an attorney who earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida in 1983.

Southern Appalachia Railway Museum has the answer for what to do after Thanksgiving.

The Secret City Scenic Excursion Train will run on Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 26-27.

The train rolls through the East Tennessee countryside in enclosed and heated coaches that used to carry travelers over 60 years ago.

The train also includes a former Railway Express baggage car where passengers can purchase popcorn, candy, beverages and railroad souvenirs.

U.S. Air Force Airman Brice M. Mayton recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

A 2010 graduate of Harriman High School, he is the son of Vance Gordon and Freda Mayton of Harriman.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

John and Charlotte McPherson of Harriman announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Lindsay Ann McPherson, to Jeremiah Matthew Cooley.

He is the son of Mark and Bonnie Cooley of Oliver Springs.

The ceremony will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 20 in Harriman Baptist Tabernacle. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
