Food store wine sales no problem for Kingston liquor store owner

Atish “Hojo” Kala, the owner of Bootlegger’s Liquor Store in Kingston, said he doesn’t fear competition. He embraces it instead.

“The thing about competition, it’s supposed to breed success because it makes you get better,” Kala said. “If you don’t have competition, you get complacent.”

Kala said that’s why he’s not afraid that grocery stores in Tennessee can start selling wine today – Friday.
