Tigers fight and claw to win

One big play and some timely defense was enough for the Rockwood Tigers to beat the Sullivan North Golden Raiders, 29-20, in Kingsport Friday night in the second round of the TSSAA 2A playoffs.

Rockwood saw a 22-6 halftime lead quickly start to disappear after North scored twice in the third frame to narrow the gap.

“We knew they were a good football team,” Tiger Coach John Webb said, “and we were going to have to play tonight.

“They didn’t quit, they were down a little bit at halftime and we had some momentum.
