    Robert Junior Vann, 63, of Coalfield, died Friday, March 16, 2012, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosie Jane Vann.

    Survivors include his wife, Linda Beck Vann, Coalfield; two sons, Jonathan Vann, Oliver Springs, and Robert “Ham” Van, Clinton; two daughters, Tasha Cahoon, Kingston, and Robin McIlwain, Oliver Springs; and a stepson, James Vanover.

  • Betty Jo Hensley

    Betty Jo Hensley, 52, of Loudon, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Roane Medical Center in Harriman.

    She was of the Baptist faith. Her hobbies included being a ham radio operator and assisting emergency management in that capacity.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosie McPherson.

    She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

    Juanita Ledbetter Elmore, 78, of Harriman, formerly of Goose Creek, S.C., died Friday, March 16, 2012, in Harriman Care and Rehabilitation Center.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Scott Ledbetter and Elizabeth Collins Ledbetter.

    Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Patton, Kingston, and Charlene Holbird, Goose Creek; and two sons, Daniel Elmore, Taylors, S.C., and Tim Elmore, Oliver Springs.

    Chester H. Edwards, 81, of Harriman, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, in Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

    He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Clymersville Baptist Church of Rockwood. He was a 50-year member of Machinist Local 480 of Oak Ridge. He enjoyed his hobbies of yard work, yard sales, fishing and craft making.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Al J. Sr. and Nellie Scott Edwards; a grandchild, Stephanie Hinds; and a sister, Mary Ruth Edwards.

  • Martha ‘Louise’ Turpin Briggs

    Martha “Louise” Turpin Briggs, 88, of Panama City Fla., previously of Harriman, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Emerald Shores Rehabilitation Center.

    She was born June 23, 1923, in South Harriman, daughter of the late John and Mary Jane Turpin. She was a remarkable woman and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished her family and friends, and before her illness, enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening and carpentry. She endured the ravages of Alzheimer’s disease more than 12 years with dignity and courage.

    Isa Bea Hall Yates, born Feb. 4, 1924, and lived most of her life in the Ponders community in Roane County, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012.

    A member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Harriman, she also loved to go to Ponders Community Church.

    A truck driver for more than 30 years, he was an avid NASCAR and racing fan. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Greenback, Rhea Springs Lodge 310 F&AM in Spring City, and Mountain View Chapter 358 OES in Maryville.

    She was born on July 27, 1960, in Rockwood, a daughter of the late Jack and Rose Marie Ferguson. She was a lifelong resident of the Roane County area.

    In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her son, Eric Shawn Tarrance.

  • Wesley Willis Harris

    Wesley Willis Harris, born on Jan. 30, 1927, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at age 85 in Knoxville.

    He was so dearly loved and will be missed by those he leaves behind, most especially his wife of 64 years, Eileen. They were married in Dayton, Ohio, after his service in World War II and made their home in Tennessee.

    He was preceded in death by his son, Mark.
