    E. Barton Bennecker

    E. Barton Bennecker, 92, of Harriman, passed away Monday May 3, 2010 at his home.

    He was a member of Harriman United Methodist Church, Eastern Star Laurel Chapter 22 and a Mason. He retired after more than 40 years of service from The Harriman Paper Board.

    Vivian Davenport

    Vivian Davenport, 74, of Goshen, Ind., formerly of Harriman, died Monday, May 3, 2010, in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, Ind.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Carmack and Margaret Cates Brooks.

    Survivors include her husband, Jack Davenport; and a daughter, Lisa J. Johnson, Middlebury, Ind.

    Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 6, in Zion Community Church, Millersburg, Ind., with the Rev. Chris Howell of the church officiating. Burial was at Jackson Cemetery, New Paris, Ind.

    Carolyn Spann Flora

    Carolyn Spann Flora, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010.

    Born April 29, 1931, in Plant City, Fla., she was a high school honor student, choir member and cheerleader. She attended the University of Tennessee, where she was in the Delta Delta Delta sorority. While there, she met the love of her life, her spouse of 58 years. They lived in Harriman before moving to Chattanooga. She was an active member of St. John United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for the past 46 years.

    Michael Joe Isham

    Michael Joe Isham, 52, of Rockwood, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at his home.

    He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Isham.

    Survivors include his son, Cody Isham, Spring City; his daughter, Kortni Isham, Spring City; and his mother, Wanda Isham, Rockwood.

    Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, in Evans Mortuary chapel, Rockwood, with the Rev. Tim Steele officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Emory Heights Cemetery, Harriman.

    Faye L. Cline

    Faye L. Cline, 92, of Harriman, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Roane Medical Center, Harriman. 

    Born Aug. 24, 1917, in McMinn County, she was the daughter of Charlie and Bertha Ellen Burns Ledford. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. 

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elbert J. “E.J.” Cline; a son, James L. “Buddy” Cline; and a sister, Dorothy Miller.

    Calvin Houston Cheek

    Calvin Houston Cheek, 64, of Rockwood, died Monday, May 3, 2010, at his home.

    Born Dec. 27, 1945, in Harriman, he was the son of William Houston and Eva Mae Sheldon Cheek.  He was a member of Coalhill Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. A member of Rockwood Civitan Club, he was a former board member of Rockwood Electric Utility, Rockwood Parks and Recreation and Roane County Industrial Board. 

    He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Calvin Ray Cheek; and a sister, Phyllis Shelley.

    Colon Mary Hall Daniel

    Colon Mary Hall Daniel,  96, of Rockwood, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, in Cumberland Medical Center, Crossville. 

    Born Sept. 25, 1913, in Pisgah, Randolph County, N.C., she was the daughter of Duckery Winslow and Decie Haseltine Strickland Hall.  She was of the Baptist faith, a retired seamstress in the textile industry for a number of years and she loved gardening and flowers.

    Miranda Usavia Miles, 26, of Lancing, passed away Sunday, May 2, 2010, in Roane Medical Center, Harriman.

    She was a member of Emory Gap Independent Church of God, Harriman.

    She was preceded in death by her mother, Penny Rene’; and her grandfathers, Elmer Miles and Willard Myres.

    Glen Marlin ‘Dolly’ Ferguson Sr.

    Glen Marlin “Dolly” Ferguson Sr., 64, of Rockwood, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

    Born Jan. 29, 1946, in Rockwood, he was the son of John Henry and Flossie Marie Kirkland Ferguson. He was a laborer at Tennessee Valley Authority’s Watts Bar Nuclear Facility and a member of the Laborers Union Local 846, Chattanooga.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Goephorth.

    Peggy Patterson Townsend, 75, of Ten Mile, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010.

    She was a member of Midway Church of God and was a wonderful lady who will be deeply missed.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Townsend; a son, Ted Townsend; a granddaughter, Kayla Hayes; her mother, Mae Patterson; her father, B. Patterson; three sisters, Jewell Ingram, Opal Murray and Mable Dennis; and five brothers, Hurbert, Junior, Ozell, Max and Troy Patterson.
