    Peggy Jeanne Qualls Kyker, 81, of Harriman, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, in Baptist Healthcare of Lenoir City.

    Born in Asheville, N.C., and raised in Atlanta, she was a graduate of Girls High School, Atlanta. She was an active member of Harriman United Methodist Church for 62 years, serving the church in many capacities. She was past president of Harriman Women’s Club and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Woman’s Sorority and United Methodist Women.

    Emily Gail Sigmon Peay, 72, of Clarksville, formerly of Harriman, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at her home.

    Born Sept. 18, 1937, in Harriman, she was a member of Madison Street United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and was special to all her family and friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Suddreth Sigmon and Ella Browder Irwin Sigmon; and an infant brother, Frank Sigmon.

    Charlie Tallent, 68, of Kingston, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at his home.

    Born July 1, 1941, he was formerly of Knoxville and was a loving husband, an awesome father and a great “papaw” to Cody, Isaac and Courtney. He was a dedicated member of South Roane County Fire Department for 14 years. He helped touch the hearts of many people throughout his life and will be sadly missed.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Mildred Tallent.

    Charles Melhorn, 88, of Coalfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjiman O. and Vesta Jones Melhorn.

    Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Georgia Jackson Melhorn, Coalfield; and a son, Randel Melhorn.

    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, in Sharp Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel, with Pastor James Foster officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Estes Cemetery, Coalfield.

    Jesse P. Chandler Jr., 70, of Kingston, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, in Lenexa, Kan.

    Born Feb. 4, 1939, in Joliet, Ill., he was the son of Jesse Preston Sr. and Anna Bell Jones Chandler. A millwright, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all. He enjoyed watching movies with his granddaughter, Christina “Eat Um Up,” jazz and watching basketball and football games.
