    Dorothy Boles Tate

    Dorothy Boles Tate died Sunday, April 27, 2008.

    Born in Knoxville, she was the daughter of Guy and Haley Harrell Boles, both of whom preceded her in death. She lived in Kokomo, Ind., for many years and had spent the last several years in northern Rhea County. She was a member of Spring City First Baptist Church.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Ray Harrell; and brother-in-law, James Simmons.

    Shelia Faye Ausburn

    Shelia Faye Ausburn, 55, of Harriman, died Friday, April 25, 2008, in University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville.

    A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she attended Trinity Baptist Church, Harriman.

    She was preceded in death by mother, Grace Smith; father, Dennis Smith; brothers, Tommy Smith and Bobby Ray Smith; and sister, Esta Mae Smith.

    James Samuel 'Sid' Singleton

    James Samuel “Sid” Singleton, 75, of Oak Ridge, died Friday, April 25, 2008, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge. He believed in the Baptist faith.

    Born June 8, 1932, in the Marlow community of Anderson County, he lived there until moving to Detroit in 1956 to work for General Motors. Following his retirement in 1986, he moved to Oak Ridge.

    He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur Singleton and Birdie Jones Singleton; and sisters, Eula Mercer and Beulah Ellison.

    Ronald R. Acuff

    Ronald R. Acuff, 63, of McCaysville, Ga., died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in Erlanger Hospital, Chattanooga.

    Born and raised in Knoxville, he was a beloved father and a friend to those who knew him. He had a love for antique cars and his special pet, Peaches. He was retired from Delta Airlines and had lived in the Atlanta area while he worked for the company. Upon his retirement, he moved to McCaysville.

    He was preceded in death by mother and stepfather, Lorane and Curtis Cassady.

    Hubert Eskridge

    Hubert Eskridge, 68, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

    A graduate of Campbell High School, Rockwood, he was retired from Chamberlain Memorial Hospital, Rockwood.

    He was preceded in death by parents, Jack and Edith Eskridge; sisters, Connice Bryant and Katie Mae Eskridge; brothers, Jack Eskridge, Fonzella Eskridge, Alfrada Moore and Lamar Moore.

    Patricia June ‘Euchie’ Aikens

    Patricia June “Euchie” Aikens, 52, of Harriman, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at her home.

    She owned and operated Euchie’s Caf in Harriman for several years.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, David Douglas Swafford; son, David Keith Swafford; parents, Stanley and Edith “Nanny” Brown Aikens; brothers, Charles Aikens and Stanley Eugene Aikens; and father-in-law, the Rev. D.H. Swafford.

    John H. Bailey Jr.

    John H. Bailey Jr., 98, of Harriman, died Monday, April 21, 2008.

    Known as Johnny to his family and close friends, he was born in 1909 in Johnson City, the son of Mary Etta and John H. Bailey Sr., both of whom preceded him in death. Some time later, the family moved to Indianapolis, where he enjoyed ice skating and gymnastics as a youngster. As a teenager in a family of nine children, he left home to find work. He worked in Texas and then traveled to Florida, where he lived for a few years and learned the printing trade.

    Wilma Carter Holland

    Wilma Carter Holland, 87, of Langston, Ala., died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at her home.

    She was an avid gardener and animal lover.

    Survivors include daughter, Julia Gasque of Kingston; grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Mac Roy IV and Rebecca Gasque of Kingston and Carter Doran Gasque of Langston; and great-grandchildren, Quint Gasque, Luke Gasque and Jolee Gasque.
