    A retired licensed practical nurse who worked at Harriman City Hospital for many years, she was a longtime member of Harriman United Methodist Church.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben A. Carter; parents, Marion and Mary Strunk; brothers, Ray Strunk and Ralph Strunk; sisters, Margaret “Mot” Moates, Hazel Taylor and Alyne Goldston; and special friend, Inez Derrick.

    Cassie Jones, 91, of Oliver Springs, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

    Born April 6, 1916, in Scott County, she moved to Morgan County in the late 1930s and remained in the Stephens community until her move to Oliver Springs in 1992. She was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A devout Christian, she was a faithful member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Oliver Springs.

She also loved spending time with her beagle, Barney, who gave her unwavering love during her fight with cancer.

    She was preceded in death by grandparents, Helen and Rufe Butler; and uncle, Mike Butler.
