  • Charlie V. Phillips

    Charlie V. Phillips, 85, of Oliver Springs, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.

    Born May 14, 1922, in the New River area, he had lived in Oliver Springs since 1969. He worked both as a logger and coal miner in area coal mines, saw mills and log woods.

    Tommy V. McLean, 52, of Evensville, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at his home.

    He was of the Baptist faith.

  • Clifford Lowe

    Clifford Lowe, 85, of Coalfield, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Life Care Center of Morgan County. He was a Christian and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II who who served on the destroyer Escort DE 634 USS Whitehurst. He later retired from Rust Engineering, Oak Ridge. Upon retirement, he enjoyed farming and all Coalfield sports.

    He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 63 years, Juanita Emory Lowe; parents, Hoyal and Anna Lowe; and sister, Dorothy Lowe.

    Jane Bowman Jenkins, 69, of Harriman, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at the home of her son in Hendersonville.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Bowman.

    Hattie Hughes, 86, of Midtown, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, in Roane Medical Center, Harriman.

    A member of Swan Pond Baptist Church, Harriman, she was a retired Harriman City Hospital nurse.

    Anna Lou Herrell, 91, of Kingston, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Roane Medical Center, Harriman.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Herrell; parents, Mitchell and Belva Grubb; brothers, Arthur Grubb, Chester Grubb, Jack Grubb, Gail Grubb and Carl Grubb; and sister, Mary Grubb.

  • Orpha Geneva Ray Bryant

    Orpha Geneva Ray Bryant, 100, formerly of Rockwood, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, in Roane Medical Center, Harriman.

    She was the last surviving charter member of New Hope Baptist Church, Rockwood.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Bryant; parents, James and Amanda Gregory; and daughter, Gladys Evans.

    Survivors include daughter, Joan Foust of Rockwood; grandchildren, Tammy L. Beets of Fredericksburg, Va., and Mike Foust of Rockwood; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

  • Ann F. Brown

    Ann F. Brown died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, in Park West Medical Center, Knoxville, after suffering a massive stroke on Oct. 8.

    A dear mother and friend, she was of the Christian faith and a longtime member of Harriman First Christian Church. She was a strong, kind and loving family matriarch who will be dearly missed.

    Zenna "Jo" Warner, 68, of Rockwood, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, in Maryville Health Care Center.

    She attended Clymersville Baptist Church, Rockwood.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Rolland "Speck" Warner; parents, the Rev. Robert and Josephine Hill; brothers, Raymond Hill and Robert Hill; and sisters, Gladys Bartness, Opal Sheehan, Wilma Klingen and Joyce Payne.

    Ola Mae "Jimmie" Waddell of Kingston died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Roane Medical Center, Harriman.

    She attended Calvary Baptist Church, Kingston.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Waddell; parents, Morgan and Geneva Manis; and sister, Linda Humphreys.

    Survivors include daughter, Cynthia Kaye Waddell of Beech Island, S.C.; sister, Peggy Chamberlain of Harriman; nephews, Steve Humphreys, Bobby Norris and William Futrell; and nieces, Glenda Acree, Rhonda Roberts and Geneva Chamberlain.
