Tara Stockton was within a half-mile of finishing the 2013 Boston Marathon when two exploding bombs put an end to her dream to cross the finish line. She’s among 5,633 runners who have been invited back this year to realize their dream of finishing the legendary race.

Finishing, not winning, is Tara Stockton’s goal for the Boston Marathon.

“The thing that I’m looking forward to the most is being able to cross the finish line,” she said.

The Roane County runner was within a half-mile of finishing last year when the Boston Marathon was abruptly stopped after bombs exploded near the finish line.

The 5,633 runners who had no chance to finish in 2013 were invited back to compete in this year’s event.
