Have you ever driven by a restaurant on a busy highway and thought, “Wonder if that would be a good place to eat?”

When talking with folks for my “Out To Lunch” articles, I always ask if they have other lunch places to recommend.

Linda Coker lives in Oliver Springs, and while we were having lunch at a restaurant there, she said, “Have you ever tried Perkadeli’s in Clinton?”

The annual Roane County Chamber of Commerce banquet, now in its 67th year and considered by many the spring social event for Roane County business and community leaders, will begin at 6 p.m. April 19 in Whitestone Country Inn.

The banquet includes presentation of the prestigious Business of the Year, Distinguished Service Award, Paul Goldberg Young Professional Award and Roane Chamber Woman of the Year Award.

The festivities begin with a wine reception and silent auction, followed by a four-course meal.

Cold temperatures aren’t preventing Roane Countians from getting a taste of the famous Bojangles chicken and biscuits. Knoxville’s Richard Turner Construction had workers on site last week working on the building on Hwy. 70 in Harriman’s Midtown area. Things appear to be shaping up nicely at the construction site, where the walls are up and giving motorists an idea of how the restaurant will look.
