Roane Medical Center appreciates and values the assistance of community volunteers to help provide a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere for patients and visitors.

The Harriman-based hospital seeks interested candidates 18 years and older to help in volunteer services.

“Volunteers play a significant part in our patients’ experiences at the medical center. They can be the first face a person will see upon arrival,” said Tricia Aycock, volunteer coordinator of Roane Medical Center.

The IRS recently issued a draft Form W-2 for 2011.
Employers use the form to report wages and employee tax withholding.
The IRS also plans to defer the new requirement for employers to report the cost of coverage under an employer-sponsored group health plan, making that reporting by employers optional in 2011.

Roane County’s unemployment rate took a 0.4 percent plunge in September and maintained its standing with the state’s fifth-lowest jobless rate, according to statistics released late last month by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
The county’s 7.4 percent September rate is dramatically improved over a year ago. Roane County had a 9.1 unemployment rate in September 2009, the state’s figures show.
Statistics show 26,200 workers in the county’s 28,300 labor force were employed in September.
