Rescuers retrieve 80-year-old Margaret Poole from a car in which she was trapped for more than 24 hours. Sheriff’s Capt. Tim Hawn, who saved a man from drowning in August, was instrumental in Poole’s rescue.

An 80-year-old woman was rescued Monday from a car that wrecked near Rockwood.

The driver was identified as Margaret A. Poole of 808 New Hope Road, Rockwood.

According to the report, Roane County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Tim Hawn found the car over an embankment in the area of 1383 Joiner Hollow Road.

“We were grateful that he happened to be right there, and got her out of there as quick as he could,” Roane County Sheriff Jack Stockton said.
