Michele Powell of Roane County is among the Tennessee Technological University students who received honors during the 36th annual College of Business Scholarships and Awards Banquet.

Powell, a senior accounting major, is the recipient of the Sam Looper Scholarship.

One hundred twenty-nine students received scholarships of almost $143,000.

“We are proud of this outstanding group of students,” said James Jordan-Wagner, dean of the College of Business.

Aaron Craig of Kingston earned dean’s list honors at Bethel University during spring semester.  

To qualify for the dean’s list, a traditional student must have completed 12 or more academic hours simultaneously with a grade-point average of 3.50 to 3.69 with no grade below a ”C.”

Bethel University is headquartered in McKenzie, Tenn.
 

Seven Middle Tennessee State University students from Roane County received their degrees during spring commencement ceremony.

They include:

Harriman — Lauren N. Jolley.

Kingston — Natalie G. Cordell and Aaron S. Leslie.

Oak Ridge — Ashley M. Pelfrey, Jeremy M. Vaughan, Sydney L. Warneke and Leah E. Wehrly.

MTSU is in Murfreesboro.
 

Tennessee Technology Center at Crossville has openings available in its next certified nurse assistant class.

The class, from July 5-Aug. 18, will meet from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The 120-hour course includes classroom and clinical training in basic nursing skills, patient personal care and hygiene, communication and interpersonal interaction, ethical and legal responsibilities, infection control methods, safety measures, rehabilitation and restorative care, and patient mental health needs.
