Diabetes doesn’t stop 10-year-old

Lauren Thompson is like most girls her age — a social butterfly.

The 10-year-old, however, works more diligently than most her age to maintain her health.

She has to.

She has Type 1 diabetes.

Lauren’s mother, Patricia Pair, knew something was wrong with her daughter when she was 3 years old. But she never imagined she’d hear a diabetes diagnosis from doctors.

“It was such a shock, because what you thought was a healthy 3-year-old now had a pancreas about to quit,” said Pair.
