  • Haslam touts job creation during Y-12 visit

    Gov. Bill Haslam and his wife, Crissy Haslam, made one of their final East Tennessee stops before Saturday's inauguration at Y-12 National Security Complex.

    Haslam spoke to an audience about 200 economic development and elected officials about the need for regional cooperation and workforce development, and leveraging each region’s unique capabilities to create jobs. The visit took place last Thursday.

  • Y-12 earns 'Excellent' '10 rating

    B&W Y-12 earned an “Excellent” rating of 94 out of a possible 100 from the National Nuclear Security Administration for its 2010 performance, resulting in a fee award of $45.2 million for the management and operation of the Y-12 National Security Complex.

  • DOE to test sirens on Wednesday

    The U.S. Department of Energy’s public warning siren system will be tested Jan. 5 in areas surrounding the department’s Oak Ridge Reservation.

    The sirens will be tested between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. People in these areas during the test will hear a siren for 3-5 minutes.

    The sirens are near DOE’s East Tennessee Technology Park, Y-12 National Security Complex and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

  • No sirens for Y-12 emergency drill

    Emergency personnel from the National Nuclear Security Administration and B&W Y-12, along with federal, state and local emergency management personnel, will conduct an emergency management exercise Aug. 25 at the Y-12 National Security Complex.
    The public may observe emergency personnel performing environmental monitoring or sampling. These offsite activities are part of the exercise, which will simulate a chemical release.
