  • Cornstalk Heights hosts meet-the-candidates event

    The Cornstalk Heights Historical Community Organization is sponsoring a “meet the candidates” session for people running for Harriman city offices.

    The event is Sunday at Killifer Park in the historic district from 2-4 p.m.

    Killifer Park is in the 600-block of Cumberland Street.

  • Mr. & Mrs. Young 50th

    Ralph and Sandra Young of Harriman will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 13.

    The couple’s children and spouses are Ralph Young Jr. and Brian Young, both of Harriman, TN; Shayne and Willie Williamson of Helfin, Ala., and Robin and Ronald Bredwell of Kempner, Texas.

    There are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A second great-grandchild is due in July.

  • Charlie Morgan Murrell

    Charlie Morgan Murrell will celebrate his second birthday on May 13.

    He will celebrate with a party with his family.

    He is the son of Chris and Whitney Murrell of Medina, Ohio.

    Grandparents are Homer Julian Jr. of Rockwood and the late Carol Julian, and Gene and Ginny Murrell of Spring City.

    Hayden Andrew Taylor celebrated his fifth birthday on April 7.

    He celebrated on April 9 with a Batman party with relatives and friends.

    He is the son of Amber Taylor of Kingston and Adam Cox of Rockwood.

    Grandparents are Mike and Pam Taylor of Harriman and Lee Taylor of Rockwood.

    Great-grandparents are Mary and Paul Bennett of Kingston, Pete and Ellen Williams of Harriman, David and Lila Taylor of Spring City, and the late Leon Moore.

    Michael Dunn Rehabilitation Center celebrated its 15th anniversary with an informal ceremony that included clients and the general public. The center in 15 years had grown from a basement organization to include an expanded building, two greenhouses, children’s residences, a Michael Dunn workshop and Dunn Diversified Industries.
