One small adjustment made a world of difference Wednesday night for the Oliver Springs Bobcats as Tony Ingram's squad knocked off Tellico Plains 44-32 to advance to the Region 2-A Tournament championship game against Harriman.

Trailing 28-25, Bobcat head coach Tony Ingram told his defense to extend their packed-in zone on the perimeter to see if that could rattle the Bears and jump start the offense. The move worked as Oliver Springs responded with an 18-1 run that erased the deficit and put the game away.

The third time was the charm Wednesday night for the Harriman Blue Devils.

After dropping a pair of close games to the Tellico Plains in the regular season, the Blue Devils got their revenge with a 57-43 victory over the Bears in the District 3-A title game at Rockwood.

There will be no third straight trip to the TSSAA Class A State Tournament for the Grace Christian Academy Rams. Harriman made sure of that Wednesday night as the Blue Devils knocked off the Rams 58-50 in the Region 2-A Tournament semifinals.

Wednesday's victory marks the second time this postseason that the Blue Devils have knocked off the Rams. Harriman had defeated the Rams 61-45 nine days earlier in the District 3-A Tournament played at Harriman.

There’s good news for anyone who has driven through Rockwood and can swear that they’ve hit every traffic light on red.

The installation of more sophisticated new traffic lights at  Gateway Avenue intersections is under way this week.

“Our contractor to work on signals is expected to start work Wednesday or Thursday of this week,” said Tennessee Department of Transportation spokeswoman Yvette Martinez.
