  • Devils extend season with win

    The Harriman Blue Devils kept their postseason aspirations alive on the strength of a 21-0 third period to provide enough of a comfortable lead to cruise to the 56-45 win over the Berean Christian Eagles on Friday night in the opening round of the District 3-A Tournament. 

  • Midway cruises past Tellico Plains in tourney opener, 61-42

    After two tight, tense games during the regular season, it was really unexpected when the Midway Green Wave routed Tellico Plains. 61-42. in the first round of the District 3-A Tournament at Midway. 

    Midway won at home in the regular season by two points while dropping a one point decision at Tellico Plains.

  • Napier tabbed honorable mention All-American

    The 2013 high school baseball season is nearly here and PRO-DAY Baseball announced that Rockwood’s Tavin Napier has been selected to the 2013 Pre-Season Prep Gear/PRO-DAY Baseball Honorable Mention Team All-American. 

  • Jackets miss out on district finals

    After playing overtime the night before, and then having to face the district’s No. 1 seed in Stone Memorial, the Kingston Yellow Jackets tried to slow the pace in an effort to knock off the Panthers in Saturday’s District 4-AA semifinals. The tactic worked somwehat as Kingston stayed within striking distance for three quarters, but the Panthers would eventually pull away for a 32-16 victory.

  • Tigers send ‘Kees home, 67-36

    The Rockwood Tigers hosted the Greenback Cherokees Friday night in a win-or-go-home match-up in the opening round of the District 3-A Tournament. 

    The Tigers came to play and left nothing to chance with Jared Breazeale and Hayden Freels leading the charge in a 67-36 victory over the Cherokees. 

  • Bobcats fall in semis, 43-31

    After a stunning upset of at Oneida in the opening round of the District 4-A Tournament, the Oliver Springs Bobcats dropped a 43-31 decision against Sunbright Saturday night in the district semifinals.

    Both teams struggled offensively early on, but this seemed to be the theme for this game.

  • Lady ‘Cats come up short in semis, 47-43

    Wartburg head coach Jason Davis worked his postseason magic once again Saturday night as the Lady Bulldogs advanced to their fourth straight District 4-A title game with a hard-fought 47-43 win over the top seed Lady ‘Cats from Oliver Springs.

  • Second half rally lands Jackets in region

    For two and a half quarters Friday night, the Kingston Yellow Jackets would have received a grade of an F in their District 4-AA Tournament opener against Loudon.

  • Lady Waves advance to 3-A title game

    After dropping both games against the Tellico Plains Lady Bears in the regular season, the Midway Lady Green Wave provided the first big upset of the District 3-A postseason Saturday night when Jon Leffew’s squad downed the Lady Bears 61-58 in overtime of the tournament’s semifinals at Midway Middle School.

  • Lady 'Cats advance to region

    In what was an expected match-up on the final night of the District 4-A Tournament, but in the consolation game instead of for a district title, the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats had to fight off a late rally from the Coalfield Lady Jackets to compose themselves and capture a 58-44 win to get a No. 3 seed in the upcoming Region 2-A Tournament.
