The Kingston baseball and softball teams travelled to Alcoa Monday with the hopes of picking up a pair of key District 4-AA victories, but the Jackets and Lady Jackets came home disappointed as the Tornadoes defended their home turf.
It might not have been glamorous, but the Oliver Springs Bobcats battled back after nearly blowing a six-run lead to take an 11-5 win over Oakdale Saturday afternoon.
It wasn’t pretty, but the Rockwood Lady Tigers overcame six fielding errors Monday to knock off visiting Greenback, 12-7, at Rockwood’s Mike “Brillo” Miller Sports Complex.

Tee time for the first nine holes is 5:30 p.m. There will be a cookout after the first nine holes then the second nine holes will tee off at 8:30 p.m. for nighttime golf.
A longtime dream finally became reality for David Gooch on March 19. The Harriman resident made a hole-in-one at the Rockwood Golf Course.
“Oh my gosh,” Gooch said. “It was exciting.”

When it comes to rivalries, it’s hard to top the one that occurs at least twice every year when the Harriman Blue Devils and Rockwood Tigers meet up on the baseball diamond.
