  • Cawood says board counsel violated rule

    Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 8.3 says that a lawyer having knowledge that another lawyer has committed a violation of the rules of professional conduct shall inform the disciplinary counsel of the Board of Professional Responsibility.

    Attorney Chris Cawood said that’s why he’s filed a complaint with the board against attorney Sandy Garrett.

    The tricky thing there is she works for the board.  

  • Two women found shot to death

    Two women were found dead of gunshot wounds at a home on Eblen Street in Rockwood on Sunday.

    The case remains under investigation.

    "We're awaiting the autopsy report tomorrow," Rockwood Police Chief Bill Stinnett said Sunday. "It's possible that it may be a homicide-suicide."

    Stinnett said the bodies were discovered around 2:45 p.m.

    He identified the women as Chelci Miles and Destiny Vestal.

    In between last week’s snow flakes, the Rockwood Middle School Tigers travelled to Wartburg and swept the Bulldogs.

    The Lady Tigers opened the evening with a narrow 33-28 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

  • Ambulance committee meeting set

    Roane County Commission’s ambulance committee is scheduled to meet on Jan. 13 at the EMS office in Midtown.

    It will be the committee’s first meeting since new committee appointments were approved in October.

    Commissioner Ron Berry said the lack of meetings is shocking considering the problems facing the county’s ambulance department.

    “There just doesn’t seem to be any sense of urgency,” Berry said.
