The financial markets had a negative reaction to Standard & Poor’s decision to downgrade the country’s credit rating.
However, U.S. Sen. Bob Corker said the move could be beneficial in the long term.
“I look at it on the other side and say, look, let’s fix our problems,” the senator from Chattanooga said. “Let’s make those changes we all know we need to make. The kind of changes that Tennessee households have had to make over the last three or four years during this crisis.”
