  • Largen correct on status of Israel, writer concurs

Christian brothers and sisters, columnist Gerald Largen is absolutely correct once again.

Israel is a religion, not a nation.

Furthermore, they are no longer God’s chosen people. They are currently breaking God’s law for them — the 10 Commandments.

    They kill. They lust.

    They worship idols.

They kill Moslems. They lust for the land that they believe God promised to them. That land is the idol they worship.

How can they still be God’s chosen people? No way.

  • Wimberly responds to Tea Party crticism in newspaper

With his approval numbers plummeting as the disastrous results of his policies become apparent to more and more people, President Obama has put out the word and his minions are dutifully carrying out the plan to demonize the Tea Party.

On newscast after newscast, spokesmen blame those evil Tea Partiers for every problem known to mankind, in a desperate attempt to deflect attention and criticism away from the current administration.

  • Free speech defense should include all sides

Here’s a quick two-step self-test of how you really feel about free expression.

Step 1: What did you think about Hank Williams Jr. comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler?
Should Monday Night Football stop using Williams’ “Are You Ready for Some Football?”

Step 2: How did you feel about Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks telling a London audience that she was embarrassed that President Bush was from her home state of Texas?

  • LOOSELEAF LAUREATE: Organizing yard sale isn’t for faint-hearted

“I don’t know what’s wrong with me,” my sister lamented by phone.
It was a loaded question, so I bit my lip and responded only with silence.
“I’m having a yard sale, and I don’t know what price to put on anything,” she continued.
With a sigh of relief that her subject had been targeted, I was ready to respond.
“Debbie, nobody knows what to price things at in yard sales,” I told her. “You just do the best you can, try to be reasonable and be ready to negotiate on offers from reasonable people.”

  • A VIEW from LICK SKILLET by Gerald Largen: Corporal Boehner enlists for ‘class warfare’

The other day, we were visiting with our neighbour, Don Matthews, when he told us of the new name going around for Texas Governor Rick Perry — Governor Scary! That seems an apt appellation if ever there was one.

However, as has been said. ‘There’s a little bit of bad in the best of us, and there’s a little bit of good in the worst of us.’ And in the case of Gov. Perry that was demonstrated in the recent Florida candidates debate.

  • She’s done with Gerald Largen’s denouncements

Once again, columnist Gerald Largen has deemed himslf superior and more intelligent, while denouncing a gentle reader as ignorant thrice.

Intoxicated with the exuberance of his own verbosity, he seems unable to disguise his arrogance and surely lacks any modicum of gentility.

  • Largen ought to recant ignorant statements

Being as I have never written a letter to Our Readers Write, I felt compelled to do so in relation to columnist Gerald Largen’s opinion on the Jews and Israel on Sept. 23.

I know that opinions are like noses, everybody has one.

But when he stated his ignorance of the Word of God about Israel and the Jewish people as being God’s chosen people and God Almighty establishing His name in the holy city of Jerusalem, then there is something he needs to know about God’s Word if indeed he believes the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God.

  • Hospital situation in Knoxville has her praising RMC

I have never seen such inappropriate behavior as I saw the week of Aug. 22-29 at Mercy West in Knoxville.

My husband went in to have hip surgery. After going to the third floor for recovery, he lay there a couple of hours before anyone checked on him.

All but three nurses and one assistant acted liked they were upset that we were there.
