One of the topics that came up during a joint work session between the Roane County Commission and Board of Education last week had to do with out-of-county students and whether to charge for them to attend schools here.
“If I lived in another county, I’d want to go to Roane County Schools,” Director of Schools Gary Aytes said.
Roane County Schools has around 7,000 students. Commissioner Todd Fink asked Aytes how many are out of county.
“Probably 125 to 130,” Aytes said. “That’s just an estimate.”
