  • Fishing Report

    Center Hill: Fishing is good. Water temperature is 61 degrees; lake is fairly stable. Several bass are being caught on jerkbaits, topwater baits and spinnerbaits while fishing in 2-10 feet of water. A few crappie are being caught near docks while fishing minnows in 5-10 feet of water. Walleye fishing is fair above Pates Ford while trolling crank baits in 10-15 feet of water.

    Oliver Springs High School seniors Dustin Mayton and Hayden Everett represented Tennessee at the Southeastern Conference Bass Fishing Championship on Sept. 29 at Lake Wylie along the border of North and South Carolina.

  • Bowling wins FLW Watts Bar event

    Harriman’s Jonathan Bowling weighed a two-day total of 10 bass totaling 28 pounds, 11 ounces to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Volunteer Division super tournament recently held on Watts Bar Lake in Rockwood. For his victory, Bowling earned $4,540.

  • TWRA fish identification guide available

    The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has published The Angler’s Guide to Tennessee Fish, a new identification guide on the vast variety of fish species in the state. The new guide is currently available at TWRA offices and online at TWRA’s website www.tnwildlife.org

    Caney Fork: Fishing has been slow due to increase degeneration. A few browns are being caught on jerkbaits while floating the river.

    Caney Fork: Fishing is slow. A few rainbow are being caught during periods of low flow, using flies and spinners. A few white bass are being caught on jigs near Carthage around the mouth of the creeks.

    Caney Fork: Fishing is fair. During periods of flow, some nice browns are being caught on jerkbaits. When water is not generating in periods of no flow, several rainbow are being caught on flies and spinners from the dam to Betty’s Island.

    Caney Fork: Fishing is slow. Water is extremely high with heavy generation. A few brown trout have been caught on jerkbaits while floating in high current. A few white bass and walleye are being caught near the dam on jigs.

    Center Hill: Fishing is good. Water temperature is 49; lake is rising. Several spotted bass are being caught on channel banks with shaky-head worms and jigs in 15-20 feet of water. A few fish are being caught on crankbaits on broken banks in the more colored water.
