  • Kingston tennis teams defeat...

    The Kingston tennis teams swept a pair of matches from Alcoa Thursday, as the Lady Jackets won 5-4 to improve to 3-5 overall and the Yellow Jackets were victorious 7-2 to improve to 6-2 overall.

    "This was our first district win for both boys and girls. Two of our girls doubles matches went into tie break games and were both victorious," said Coach Ellen Dailey. " Our third-ranked boys doubles lost in their tie break game.

  • Roane County Schools Foundation...

    The Roane County Schools Education Foundation will be hosting the Three Rivers Fun Run on Saturday, May 14 at Fort Southwest Point.

    “We thought this would be a good fundraiser,” Roane County School Board member Vic King said. “This is something a lot of people in the community like to do.

    “The money we make from this goes to benefit the education foundation, which supports all the schools in Roane County.
    “One hundred percent of this goes back to the children of Roane County.”

  • Rockwood Rams football, cheer...

    The Rockwood Rams Quarterback Club are now taking football and cheerleading signups for ages 4-11  for the 2016 season at the Mike "Brillo" Miller Sports Complex in front of the concession stand at  the baseball/softball fields.

    Sign-up days are May 2, May 9, May 12, May 16 and May 19 from 5-8 p.m. If games at the complex are canceled due to weather, signups will be canceled as well.

  • Rockwood defeats Oliver Springs...

    The Rockwood Tiger baseball team celebrated senior night with a 12-0 victory over the Oliver Springs Bobcats at Mike "Brillo" Miller Sports Complex Thursday night.

    Before the game seniors Tarrance Ward, Austin Lloyd, Kane Penley, Brad Grubb, Will Warner, Braden Davidson and Nathan Briley were honored.

  • Seven Coalfield players get 15...

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers were defeated 14-2 by Coalfield in a battle of Region 2A teams Thursday evening at Brickyard Springs in Rockwood.

    Coalfield took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run double by Anna Smith, but the Lady Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI single by Brianna Denny and a groundout by Cassidy Tilley.

    Coalfield scored seven runs in the top of the fourth inning and six runs in the top of the fifth inning to end the game on the TSSAA run rule.

  • Harriman sweeps doubleheader...

    The Harriman baseball team hosted Scott High in a doubleheader Thursday evening , sweeping the twinbill 6-5 and 3-2 in extra innings.

    Harriman 6, Scott 5: Alex Wampler was the starting pitcher for the Blue Devils and gave up one run to the Highlanders in the top of the first inning.

  • Lady Mavericks beat Lady Jackets...

    The Kingston Lady Jackets were defeated 5-3 by the Anderson County Lady Mavericks in a non-district game Thursday evening at Southwest Point.

    Anderson County grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, as Courtney Lively and Kayla Baker singled to jump start the Lady Maverick offense.

  • 17th Roane County Invitational...

    For nearly 20 years, a lot of area golfers have taken to the course to help a worthy cause, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

    This year will be no different as Rockwood Golf and Country Club will host the 17th annual Roane County Invitational on May 5,6 and 7.

  • Rockwood sweeps Midway Tuesday...

    The Rockwood Tigers concluded the District 3A regular season with a 13-1 victory over at Midway Tuesday at Midway, after blanking the Green Waves 10-0 Monday in Rockwood.

    The District 3A race concluded Tuesday with Grace Christian winning the regular season with a 12-0 record. Greenback finished second at 10-2. Meigs County is third at 8-4. Rockwood takes fourth at 6-6. Harriman and Tellico Plains are tied with 3-9 records. Midway comes in seventh at 0-12.

    The Green Waves will either play at Harriman or Tellico Plains in the six vs. seventh seed game.

  • Edmonds, Curry lead Kingston to...

    The Kingston Yellow Jacket baseball team defeated Lenoir City 4-2 Tuesday evening to sweep the season series.

    Lenior City scored twice in the bottom of the first inning on singles by Nick Plemons and Brent Jolley and a triple by Gabe Williams.

    Kingston tied the game with two runs in the top of the fourth and took the lead with two runs in the top of the seventh inning on two singles for the 4-2 victory.

    Preston Edmonds and Tony Curry both singled twice with an RBI, while Noah Cash doubled; Paul Bolden singled; and Bryce Woody singled with two RBIs.
