  • Tigers fall at Fulton, 9-8

    A seesaw affair ended with the Rockwood Tigers suffering its first defeat of the season Friday evening at Fulton, 9-8.

    The back-and-forth battle started early with both teams scoring two runs in the first inning, Rockwood holding a 4-3 lead after two innings, and then the Falcons taking a 5-4 lead into the fourth inning.

  • Lady Tigers bomb Wartburg

    It may not have been the strongest outing by the Rockwood Lady Tigers, but they managed to overcome a bit of a sluggish start en route to a 16-4 win over the Wartburg Lady Bulldogs softball squad Friday evening at Wartburg.

    In the top of the first inning, Chelsea Cheek stole home on a wild pitch and Kristin Isham had an RBI double to push the lead to 2-0 early on.

    Wartburg left the bases juiced in the bottom of the first inning when they got to the bottom of the inning.

  • Kingston downs Harriman, 8-0

    Bruce Robinette’s Kingston Yellow Jackets picked up their first win of the 2014 season Friday night as they traveled to Harriman and knocked off the Blue Devils, 8-0.

    The Jackets didn’t pick up the victory by having any big innings or using extra base hits, but rather stringing together singles and being aggressive on the base paths. Of Kingston’s 10 hits on the day, nine were singles. The Jackets also stole nine bases.

  • Lady Devils split with Knoxville...

    The Harriman Lady Blue Devils traveled to West Knoxville Friday night and split a doubleheader with Knoxville Catholic.

    Both games featured a lot of runs as Harriman won the first game, 10-7, but the Lady Irish bounced back in game two to knock off the Lady Devils, 16-3.

  • Soccer Jackets down Harriman, 8-2

    Friday night brought two bitter rivals to Dr. Nat Sugarman Memorial Field to face off in a soccer contest. Most of the fans were bundled up in the bleachers, but the conditions were fiery on the field as both teams got after each other for the full 80 minutes with Kingston taking home an 8-2 victory.

  • Rockwood downs Harriman in tennis

    The Harriman and Rockwood tennis teams met up last week at Roane State and the news was good for the green and gold as the Tigers and Lady Tigers swept the match-up.

    The boys’ action was close with Rockwood holding a 4-3 advantage in games played. The Tigers also won two matches via forfeit to make the final score 6-3.

    The girls’ matches weren’t as close as Rockwood cruised to a 9-0 victory.

  • Midway teams win opener

    The Midway baseball and softball teams had successful opening games Monday at Midway.

    The Lady Waves pounded Sweetwater, 12-0, and just a few minutes later the Green Wave picked up a tough 4-1 win over Oakdale.

    Both Midway teams played the same two teams Tuesday with the Lady Waves traveling to Sweetwater and the Green Waves heading up the mountain to Oakdale.

  • Jackets, Waves suffer road losses

    A pair of Roane County baseball teams hit the road Tuesday and neither had a fun trip.

    The Kingston Yellow Jackets fell to 0-2 on the season after dropping a 4-3 decision at Meigs County while the Midway Green Wave (1-1) came back from Oakdale with a 3-1 loss.
