  • Oakdale, Midway splits a pair of...

    Oakdale basketball teams traveled “South of the River” to face the Midway basketball teams  Tuesday night. The Lady Waves reached high tide for  with a 62-52 win, while the Midway Green Waves hit ebb tide when they fell to the Oakdale Eagles despite a spirited 73-60 effort in defeat.
    Midway 62, Oakdale 52: A lopsided 21-2 first period swing by Midway proved to be too much for the Oakdale Lady Eagles to overcome as Midway held on for the 62-52 win despite the best rally efforts by Oakdale.

  • Kingston sweeps season series...

    The Kingston basketball teams swept the season series with Oliver Springs Tuesday, as the Lady Jackets defeated the Lady Bobcats 65-42 and the Yellow Jackets rallied in the second half to defeat the Bobcats 59-52.
    Kingston 65, Oliver Springs 42: “We played well tonight and we must get better defensively,” said Lady Jacket Coach Connie Guinn.

  • Harriman wins twice at Concord...

    The Harriman basketball teams were on the road for their second District 3A game in as many nights. This time to Farragut for a double-header with Concord Christian...and returned to Harriman with a sweep of the Lions.
    The Lady Devils defeated the Lady Lions 46-38 for their first league w win, while the Blue Devils beat the Lions, 76-42, for their second district victory.

    The Harriman basketball teams opened the week Monday night with the first of three District 3A road games, as they split a pair of games  at Tellico Plains. The Lady Devils were beaten 63-29, while the Blue Devils were victorious, 76-65.
    Tellico Plains 63, Harriman 29: The Lady Devils didn’t pick up a win, but head coach Dallas Davis was pleased with the effort of the Lady Devils on the night and sees improvement in his young team.

    After splitting a pair of games at Wartburg Friday night, the Harriman basketball teams continued their season-opening road swing with District 3A games at Tellico Plains Monday, Concord Christian Tuesday and Rockwood.
    The Blue Devils downed the Bulldogs 75-71, while the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Devils 71-37.
    Harriman 75, Wartburg 71: The Blue Devils put on a show against the Wartburg Bulldogs, winning in style points and, more importantly, on the scoreboard.

  • Rockwood continues District 3A...

    After splitting a pair of District 3A games with Concord Christian Friday night, the Rockwood basketball teams continue league play this week with a trip to Meigs County Tuesday and a home game Friday with Harriman, when RHS will honor Campbell School.
    The Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Lions 54-25, while the Tigers were beaten by the Lions 52-48.
    Rockwood 54, Concord Christian 25: "We played well and had a chance to get our younger players in the game for some experience," said Lady Tiger Coach Amy Breazeale.

  • Kingston sweeps Loudon

    The Kingston basketball teams played the first of three games this week Monday as they swept non-district foe Loudon, as the Lady Jackets bested the Lady Redskins 56-39 and the Yellow Jackets defeated the Redskins 60-49, before they hit the road to Oliver Springs Tuesday and to Alcoa Friday for the District 4AA opener.
    Kingston 56, Loudon 39: “I thought both teams played well,” said Kingston Coach Connie Guinn. “We made the big plays when we had to Abby Wilson really came through for us tonight."

  • Tellico Plains calms Midway...

    The Midway basketball teams traveled to Tellico Plains Friday night in District 3A play, but the hosts swept the Green Wave. The Lady Bears won 73-43, while the Bears downed the Green Wave 71-40.
    Tellico Plains 71, Midway 43: The Bears led 9-8 after one quarter, but exploded for a 15-8 second quarter to take a 24-16 lead at the break. The Bears extended the lead to 52-29 after three quarters and finished the game with a 19-11 run for the 71-40 final score.

  • Rockwood football banquet set...

    The Rockwood Rotary Club will hosting its annual football banquet Thursday, Jan. 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. The guest speaker will be Dr. Chris Whaley, Roane State Community College president.
    Tickets are $9 each and can be purchased from any Rockwood Rotarian, in the Rockwood High School office or from the RHS cheerleaders.
