  • Harriman dominates Tellico...

    A sluggish start provided drama early, but the Harriman Blue Devils closed out with a dominant second half to defeat the Tellico Bears 84-46.
    “Our defense has taken a few steps back, and tonight we focused on getting back to the fundamentals,” said Harriman coach Shay Shannon.
    Finding the bottom of the net was not an issue for the Devils, as they amassed 19 points in the first period of play. Isaiah McClain dropped nine points in the opening quarter.

  • Midway rolls over Rockwood in 3A...

    The Midway Green Wave played spoiler on senior night in Rockwood, sweeping the Tigers in both games. The Lady Waves won by a score of 48-42, followed by the boys holding on in a 52-50 contest.
    Midway 48,Rockwood 42:  A strong start was huge for Midway in their road victory at Rockwood, as the Lady Waves held on to win 48-42. This win guarantees Midway will be playing in the 4-5 game in the district tournament.

  • Crusaders beat Seahawks in OT...

    In front of a packed house last Monday night at Calvary Baptist gym, a battle was brewing. The division leading Calvary Crusaders were set to battle the Seahawks of Cedarview for the first place spot. The game lived up to all the hype of an epic battle and was decided in overtime. 
    The opening tip went to the Seahawks for a quick bucket. That was the beginning of what would be a high scoring affair.   

  • Yellow Jackets buzz Sequoyah...

    The Kingston Yellow Jackets capped off their regular season with a resounding bang on Monday night, generating a 61-37 win in the girls game on the strength of 20-plus point efforts from Riley Guillemet and Abby Wilson, while the Kingston boys scored a convincing 76-58 victory.

  • RSCC splits weekend games with...

    The Roane State Community College basketball teams the Raiders and Raiderettes split conference conference games with Volunteer State CC and Motlow State CC over the weekend and will travel to Cleveland State Wednesday night.
    On Friday, the Raiderettes defeated Vol State 61-53, while Raiders won 76-64, but Saturday, the Raiderettes lost 68-59 to the Lady Bucks and the Raiders were beat 71-60 by the Bucks.

  • County players named All-...

    Fourteen girls and boys from Harriman, Rockwood and Midway were named to the All-District 3A team. Representing Harriman were Isaiah McClain, Joe Pace, John Johnson, Hayden Bingham and Jada Johnson, all first-team, while Katie Kring was named honorable mention. First-team picks from Rockwood were Lexie Hill and Matthew Thompson. Megan Monday and Camryn Evans were honorable mention. Caitlyn Ross and Paige Bacon were selected All-First team, while  Jacob Woody and Drake Romines were honorable mention.

  • Seven OS basketball players...

    Seven Oliver Springs basketball players have been named to the All-District by the 4A coaches last week.
    Zach Melton was named second team, while Jeremiah Johnson,  Jacob Humphreys and Matt Gaylor were named  honorable mention.
    Alivia Baker, Allyssa Suttles and Racheal Crass were selected by the league coaches.
    Marv West of Oneida was girls Coach of the Year, while Kaylea Foster of Coalfield and Bailee Thomas of Oneida were Co-Players of the Year.

  • OS sweeps Sunbright on senior...

    Senior night was a special one in Oliver Springs on Tuesday as the ‘Cats and Lady ‘Cats each picked up a District 4A win at the hands of Sunbright, as the Lady 'Cats won 41-14 and the Bobcats were victorious 57-51.
    Oliver Springs 41, Sunbright 14: The senior trio of Racheal Crass, Alyssa Suttles and Alivia Baker won their final regular season game at Terry L. Hackler Gymnasium on Tuesday in dominating fashion, 41-14.
    “These seniors are special,” said coach Michelle Christopher.

  • Basketball games postponed due...

    Basketball games scheduled Thursday and Friday night have been postponed due to school being dismissed both days due to illness.
    Thursday's Kingston at Rockwood and tonight's Kingston at Midway were postponed and will not be made up, as district tournaments are scheduled to begin Feb. 16.
    Tonight's Oliver Springs at Oneida game has been tentatively rescheduled for Monday night, while Thursday's Greenback at Midway game will be rescheduled for Tuesday. Midway will play at Rockwood Monday.


    Two-time TSWA Class A/AA All-state soccer player Lexie Hill of Rockwood signed scholarship players to continue her career at Maryville College.
    "She had a great season and we are here today to celebrate Lexie's accomplishments," said RHS principal Shannon Cawood. "You are a really good player. Besides that, you are really good person."
    "It has been a privilege and an honor to coach you and all of the girls," said Former Coach Wes Ford. "I know how hard you have worked for this."
