  • Lady ‘Cats find success in...

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats had a busy weekend as Matt Headden’s squad played five games in two days in a tournament at Rockwood.

    The Lady ‘Cats were victorious in four of those games. The first win came Friday against Carter, 3-1, and they won three games on Saturday, 7-0 over Rockwood, 2-1 over Rhea County, and 1-0 over Harriman.

  • Bats come alive for Midway in 16...

    Nick Collins, Logan Davidson, Christian Moore and Hayden Hester all had multiple hits Saturday afternoon in leading the Midway Green Wave to a 16-7 victory at Coalfield.
    Midway scored in six of the seven innings played Saturday with three of those runs coming in the top of the first inning.
    Moore had Midway’s first hit of the day with a double and he scored on a ground out from Zach Edwards. Hester and Collins also had hits and runs scored in the frame with Zach Qualls driving in both runs after reaching on an error.

  • Soccer Tigers kick Carter, 4-1

    The Rockwood Tigers soccer team racked up another impressive notch under their belt with a dominating 4-1 win over the Carter Hornets on Friday evening.
    "We played well and passed the ball well tonight, but I felt we missed some great opportunities early on in the game," Rockwood head coach Wes Ford said after the game. "We had some great goal chances, but we weren't quite able to capitalize. That said, I think we are really starting to gel as a team."

  • Hall leads Lady Waves past...

    The term stepping up is often used in high school athletics.
    Midway Freshman Ragyn Hall did just that Friday evening as she pitched a shutout and then on offense she drove in five runs in an 11-0 win over Loudon.
    Loudon’s only threat came in the top half of the first inning as they coupled base hits to leave runners on first and second.
    The Lady Waves kicked it off in the bottom of the first inning with senior leader Alex Richardson doing what she has done so many times during her Midway career, hitting a two-run blast to put the Lady Waves up 2-0.

  • Lady Devils knock off Wartburg,...

    The weather outside might have been a cool, breezy 45 degrees with rain, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the Harriman Lady Blue Devils on Good Friday as they downed the Wartburg Lady Bulldogs 4-1 in a five-inning game at Flour Mill Flats.

  • Lady Devils struggle with Stone

    The Harriman Lady Devils were beaten 13-1 by the Stone Memorial Lady Panthers Thursday afternoon. 

    The Lady Panthers tore into Harriman for four runs in the top of the first inning and then added a run to their tally to make the score 5-0 in the top of the second.

    One week after winning a tournament in Meigs County, the Kingston Lady Jackets were looking for their second tournament title in as many weeks over the weekend in Cookeville, but it wasn’t to be as Kingston was eliminated in the fist round of tournament play.

    After having their first four District 3-A contests cancelled due to weather, the Harriman Blue Devils finally played their first district contest of the season Wednesday evening, and the wait was worth it for Andy Adcox’s squad as they rolled to an 8-2 victory over Greenback at Paper Maker Field.
