  • Lady Bobcats sweep Lady Bulldogs...

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats swept the Wartburg Lady Bulldogs 10-3 Tuesday night in Oliver Springs to take the District 4A series to improve to 8-1 in the league 8-4-1 overall, after winning 14-3 at Wartburg Monday evening.

    Oliver Springs 14, Wartburg 3: It was another solid performance from the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats Monday night, as they defeated Wartburg 14-3.

  • Lady Waves roll over Greenback...

    The Midway Lady Green Waves picked up wins 19 and 20 Monday and Tuesday running past Greenback. Midway rolled to a 12-0 win in five innings at Greenback on Monday and  then got an 12-1 win in six innings on Tuesday for senior night.

    At 20-7 overall and now 6-1 in District 3A, the Lady Waves will have a wild finish to the season playing all district games.

    They host Rockwood depending on the weather today (Friday) and Meigs County Monday, followed by road games with Grace Christian Tuesday, Meigs County Wednesday and Rockwood next Friday.

  • Greenback sweeps Midway twice

    The Midway Green Waves are still not having much luck in District 3A, as they dropped two games to Greenback, falling 12-2 at Greenback Monday and losing 10-1 to the Cherokees  at home Tuesday to fall to 3-13 overall and winless for the season in the district.

    Greenback got the win in five innings Monday. C. J. Huff and Alex Melton didn't have much success on the mound, each allowing six runs to score.

    Midway picked up two runs in the third, as Luke Hall walked and scored on a single from Will Richardson, who scored on a single from Alex Thomason.

  • Lady Devils lose to Meigs County...

    The Harriman Lady Devils softball team was defeated 17-5 at Meigs County Tuesday night.

    Meigs County scored in all five innings, one in the first, four in the second, one in the third, seven in the fourth and four in the fifth to end the game on the TSSAA run rule.

    Harriman scored all of its runs in the top of the fifth.

    Marilyn Franklin was the losing pitcher, while Alyssa Goldston and Shirleece McClain each smacked a double for Harriman.

  • Harriman loses twice at Grace...

    On Tuesday night, the Harriman High School baseball team traveled to Knoxville to take on the Rams of Grace Christian in a doubleheader for their District 3A series. To say things were pretty even would be a good summary for the two teams on the night.

    Grace won the first, five-inning game of the evening, 3-0; however, the Blue Devils bounced back in game two with their bats, but lost the contest 4-3.

  • Warner leads Tigers over Tellico...

    Will Warner ripped a double and three singles to help the Rockwood Tigers rally in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat the Tellico Plains Bears 6-3 to sweep their District 3A home-and-home series Tuesday night.

    Warner was joined in the hit parade by Kolby Robbins (two singles, two RBIs); Lucas McDermott (single, RBI); Rickey McElhaney (single, two RBIs); Kane Penley (single) and Nathan Briley (single). Dalton Monroe had a sacrifice fly for an RBI.
    Jimmy Vanosdale notched the victory, allowing three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts.

  • Bornancin scores hat trick in...

    William Bornancin's hat trick (three goals) sparked the Rockwood/Midway soccer team to a 5-1 victory over Union County Tuesday night at the Mike "Brillo" Miller Sports Complex.

    Bornancin scored the Tiger's first three goals for a 3-0 lead. The first came on an assist from Jack Lowe, while the last two were assisted by Yefre Elvir Costaneda.

    After Union County scored a goal to make it 3-1, Drake Lamm on an assist from Tristan Mayton made it 4-1 at halftime.
    Jose Coronilla on an assist by Bornancin made the final score 5-1.

  • Rockwood tennis teams sweep...

    The Rockwood tennis teams received six forfeits in route to a district sweep of Union County Tuesday afternoon at Roane State, as the Lady Tigers won 5-4 to improve to 8-1 overall, while the Tigers won 5-2 to improve to 2-7 overall.

    Savannah Dupter (UC) defeated Madison Mioduski 8-6; Stephanie Long (R) defeated Morgan Muncy 8-3; Christina Long (R) defeated Whitney Walker 8-6; Camryn Evans (R) defeated Autumn Hough  8-0; Anisha Desai (UC) defeated Tristen Walls 8-5; and Maggie Poland (R) won by forfeit.

  • Meredith Garrett leads Kingston...

    Meredith Garrett pitched and hit the Kingston Lady Jackets to an 11-3 District 4AA victory over the Alcoa Lady Tornadoes Tuesday evening in Alcoa.

    She singled twice and doubled with one RBI and picked up the victory, allowing three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts, four walks and two hit batters.

    Casey Gaines also singled twice and doubled with an RBI and Taylor Thurman cracked a double and two singles with an RBI.

  • Kingston beats Harriman 6-1 in...

    The Kingston Yellow Jacket soccer team defeated the Harriman Blue Devils 6-1 Monday night.

    The Yellow Jackets led 3-0 at the half and outscored the Blue Devils 3-1 in the second half to post the victory.

    Zac McCoig scored Kingston's first goal on an assist from Brandon McClure, followed by an unassisted goal from Austin Courteau, who assisted Zac Williams on Kingston's third goal for the 3-0 advantage.
