    When Mount Pisgah Christian Academy travels to Springfield this weekend for the Tennessee Athletic Association of Christian Schools (TAACS) A State Tournament, their opponents will undoubtedly have two names circled on the scouting report. Those names are Patriot seniors Mark Ladd and Samuel Parrott.

    Powered by 36 points from senior guard Samuel Parrott, the Mount Pisgah Patriots captured the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools (TACS) East Region A Championship Saturday afternoon with a 62-51 victory over Fairview Christian Academy.

    A TACS title didn’t seem possible just 30 days earlier when the Patriots dropped a 72-61 decision against the Falcons while playing without starting post Colby Turner, who suffered a season-ending knee injury.

    The Harriman Lady Blue Devils put up a good fight Friday night, but they weren’t able to knock off Oliver Springs, as the Lady ’Cats picked up a 52-41 victory at home in the opening round of the Region 2-A Tournament.

    The Calvary Crusaders dominated Seymour Christian Community School (SCCS) in a late season match-up, 64-15.

    Calvary’s Malachi Blake took the opening tip to the rim for the first score of the game. The Crusaders never slowed down in the first quarter with Zephaniah Blake, Malachi Blake and Paul Plemons scored.

  • Free throws cost Harriman in loss

     The charity stripe proved to be the deciding factor in the District 3-A consolation game Tuesday evening as the Tellico Plains Lady Bears used a 24-10 swing in points from the free-throw line to take third place in the district tournament by a 52-39 margin. 

  • Tigers take third in district...

    A fast start and a strong finish were the keys to victory Thursday night for the Rockwood Tigers as Paul Kamikawa’s squad claimed third place in the District 3-A Tournament with a 58-46 victory over Tellico Plains.

    Rockwood came out on fire against the Bears. After a 2-2 tie to start the game, the Tigers ripped off 17 straight points in eventually taking a 19-6 lead after eight minutes of play.

  • Lady 'Cats hold off Oneida...

    With the District 4-A championship on the line, Oliver Springs junior Emily Griffith was not going to let the flu keep her down, as Griffith put on a show Tuesday night in leading the Lady ’Cats to a 56-53 victory over Oneida in the District 4-A Tournament championship game at Wartburg.

    Griffith scored 25 points and dished out six assists despite being visibly tired at times in the contest.

  • Lady Waves fall at Grace, 58-38

     

    The 2013-14 season ended Friday night for the Midway Lady Waves as John Leffew’s squad came up on the short end of a 58-38 decision against Grace Christian Academy in the opening round of the District 3-A Tournament.

    The Lady Rams grabbed the lead early and never looked back in advancing to the tournament semifinals.
