    The Kingston Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets were hoping to put together a postseason run starting Friday night against Scott High in the opening round of the District 4-AA Tournament at Alcoa, but it wasn’t to be as the Highlanders and Lady ’Landers had other ideas as they picked up a sweep to end Kingston’s season.

    When Alex Richardson played at Midway High School, it was no secret she could hit.

    Now the folks in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) are finding that out as Richardson was named the G-MAC Offensive Athlete of the Week only seven games into her freshman season at Trevecca Nazarene University.

  • Ram runs overpower Tigers, 62-36

    Three big runs pretty much decided the outcome of Monday’s District 3-A Tournament semifinal contest between Rockwood and Grace Christian Academy.

    Unfortunately for Tiger fans, all three runs belonged to Grace Christian in what would be a 62-36 victory that moves the Rams into Wednesday’s District 3-A championship game against Meigs County.

  • Harriman no match for Meigs...

    One day after keeping its season alive with a 63-49 victory over Rockwood in the District 3-A Tournament’s opening round, the Harriman Blue Devils suffered a rough 76-39 loss at the hands of Meigs County Saturday night in semifinal action at Grace Christian Academy.

    Harriman was no match against the state’s No. 3 ranked team and regular season District 3-A champion.

    The Calvary Lady Crusaders picked up a key late season victory recently with a 52-44 win over Temple Baptist. 

  • Lady Devils pull surprise in...

     

    It’s often said that it’s hard to beat a team three teams in a season.

    That proved to be the case for the Rockwood Lady Tigers Friday night, as despite beating Harriman twice during the regular season, the Lady Devils sprung an upset in the opening round of the District 3-A Tournament by knocking off the Lady Tigers, 63-49.

  • Lady 'Cats roll in tourney...

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats opened postseason play Tuesday night with a dominating 58-35 victory over Jellico in the first round of the 2014 District 4-A Tournament played at Terry L. Hacker Gymnasium.

    Oliver Springs never trailed Tuesday and had the contest well in hand by halftime.

  • Kingston takes two from Midway

     

    The Roane County High School gymnasium was rocking Friday night as Midway rode into town to finish the season series with the Yellow Jackets.

    Midway took both the girls and boys games in December against Kingston, but the Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets were up to the task Friday night, winning both games to split the season series.

  • Tigers take down Bulldogs

     

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers used a 15-2 swing in the final period to come from behind for a 35-29 win over the Wartburg Lady Bulldogs Friday night at Wartburg. 

  • Tigers sweep Green Wave to end...

     

    The 2013-14 regular season came to a close Monday night as the Rockwood Tigers and Lady Tigers picked up a pair of District 3-A wins at Midway by almost the same score.

    The Lady Tigers took the floor first and knocked off the Lady Waves, 58-50. The final game of the evening went to overtime before Rockwood picked up a 58-51 victory.
