  • Lady Tigers improve to 7-0

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers are off to a great start this season and Friday night Guy Thompson’s picked up another easy win, this one coming with a 16-1 decision over Sunbright at Rockwood Sports Complex.

    The victory improves Rockwood’s season mark to 7-0 in 2014. The Lady Tigers have outscored their opponents 100-7 in those games and none of the seven contests have last the full seven innings of play.

  • OS falls, 7-5

     

    It was defensive errors and a lack of timely hitting that did in the Oliver Springs Bobcats by a 7-5 margin to the Sweetwater Wildcats on a bone-chilling Thursday night at Oliver Springs’ Arrowhead Park.

    Oliver Springs got two outs to start the first inning, but fielding errors led to the Wildcats taking the early 1-0 lead.

  • Meigs too much for Green Wave

     

    The Meigs County Tigers served notice to the rest of District 3-A that they may be just as good in baseball as they were in basketball this past season. The Tigers took a doubleheader from Midway Thursday night in the opening district games for the two teams. 

    Meigs County won the opener 6-0 and the nightcap 9-3.

  • Tigers pound Bears in...

     

    The Rockwood Tigers used a pair of big innings Wednesday evening to pick up a doubleheader sweep of Tellico Plains in a District 3-A affair at Rockwood Sports Complex.

    Both big innings came in the third as Rockwood took game one, 14-3, and that was followed by a 16-2 victory in the final game of the evening.

  • Lady ’Cats remain unbeaten with...

     

    Thursday evening marked the second time in three days that the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats defeated Oakdale this season in a District 4-A match-up.

    On Tuesday, the Lady ’Cats rolled to a 15-0 victory at home. They followed that up with a 12-0 victory at Oakdale on Thursday.

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers ran their season record to 6-0 Wednesday night with a pair of easy District 3-A wins at Greenback.

    Guy Thompson’s squad won the first game of the doubleheader by a 14-0 score and that was followed by an 11-1 victory in game two.

  • Eagles overpower Oliver Springs...

     

    The weather was cold and damp Monday evening at Oliver Springs’ Arrowhead Park, but the visiting Oakdale Eagles adapted to the elements just fine as they handed the Bobcats their first District 4-A loss of the season, 9-1.

  • Midway knocks off Cosby, 12-1

     

    After a slow start, Midway’s offense kicked into high gear last Friday when they popped Cosby, 12-2, to improve to 3-1 on the 2014 season. 

    Midway had not scored more than four runs in their first three games of the season, and the 12 runs against Cosby were more than the first three games combined.

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers are off to a great start in 2014.

    Monday and Tuesday, Guy Thompson’s ladies took two games from Oakdale by a combined score of 28-1. On Thursday, the Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 with a 15-0 win over Wartburg in a game that lasted only three innings.
