  • Tigers win Eble Championship

    The Rockwood Middle School Tigers are hoping history repeats itself this season.
    Last year at this time, Bryan Powers’ squad won their second straight Hollis Eble Championship en route to what turned out to be an undefeated season and an East Tennessee Championship.
    Tuesday night, Rockwood made it three straight Hollis Eble championships with a 38-24 victory over York Institute.
    Tuesday’s win was the third in the tournament for the Tigers as Rockwood opened the tourney with 42-20 victory over Sunbright before beating Coalfield in the semifinals, 49-17.

  • Regular season ends Friday night

    The final week of the regular season is here and it should be a wild one as all five county teams could still make the playoffs.

    Rockwood, Oliver Springs and Kingston have secured their postseason berth, but Harriman and Midway still have work to do.

  • Tigers/Waves set for Friday

    The high school football game between Midway and Rockwood will be played Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Rockwood’s Civitan Field.

  • Two Lady Devils named all-tourney

    Harriman Middle School softball players Marilyn Franklin and Abby Higgins were recently named to the TMSAA All-District Tournament Team.

         

  • CAK downs Kingston for district...

    The Kingston Lady Jackets had hoped to end Christian Academy of Knoxville's (CAK) streak of winning the District 4 A/AA Championship at five straight years, but the Lady Warriors had a different idea as CAK rolled to a 7-4 victory in West Knoxville for their sixth title since 2006.

  • Midway tops Indians in OT, 40-34

    Midway hosted Hancock County in their final home game of the 2011 season looking to end a three-game losing streak before next week’s big county match up with Rockwood.

  • Grace downs Harriman, 49-0

    The Harriman Blue Devils were no match for the Grace Christian Academy Rams Friday night, falling by a score of 49-0. 

  • Bobcats blank Bulldogs, 35-0

    One week after getting embarrassed at home against Sunbright, the Oliver Springs Bobcats put together a dominant performance in knocking off Wartburg, 35-0, in a District 4-A battle at Wartburg's John R. Dillon Field.

    After last week's loss against Sunbright, the Bobcats were a team that appeared to be on the verge of a meltdown, but Oliver Springs head coach Wiley Bracckett rallied the troops this week, and he also vowed that his team would not have another performance like the one against Sunbright the rest of the season.

  • Fishing regulations set at TWRC...

    The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission heard several topics concerning commercial fishing and also approved the 2012 sport fishing regulations among business at a recent meeting.

  • Rockwood Cornhole tourney set...

    The Rockwood Basketball Booster Club is sponsoring a cornhole tournament on Thursday, October 27. 

    It will be held at the Rockwood High School gym and begins at 6 p.m.
