  • Griffith pumps in 42 in OT loss

     

    Oliver Springs’ Emily Griffith put on a show Saturday night, scoring 42 points, pulling down 11 rebounds, coming away with five steals and dishing out four assists, but unfortunately for Lady Bobcat fans, it wasn’t enough to secure a victory as Stone Memorial picked up a 68-65 overtime victory in the final game of the 2013 Oliver Springs Thanksgiving Classic.

    Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful, but the Midway Green Wave and Lady Waves didn’t have much to be thankful for on the day following the holiday as Tellico Plains swept a pair of District 3-A contests at Midway.

    One day after suffering a tough 57-56 loss at the hands of Meigs County, the Oliver Springs bounced back Saturday afternoon with a 62-49 victory over Berean Christian in the final day of play of the 2013 Oliver Springs Thanksgiving Classic.

  • Lady Tigers off to quick start

     

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers recently opened their season with a 50-31 victory at Sunbright, and they followed that up on at home by knocking off Sunbright again, 55-31.

    Both games played out in similar fashion as Rockwood took control early and cruised in the second half.

    The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency recently held a dedication to officially open the newly constructed public firing range at the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area.

    The Harriman Middle School Blue Devils picked up a sweep of Midway on the last games before Thanksgiving. 

    The Lady Devils pulled away in the second half to record a 27-18 win, and then the Blue Devils went into overtime to hold off the Green Waves, 40-36.

    The TSSAA recently handed out A.F. Bridges Awards to area schools and individuals at a regional meeting at Hardin Valley Academy. 

    A.F. Bridges awards are given to schools and individuals who display a high level of ethics and integrity in the teaching and promotion of citizenship and sportsmanship.

    Tuesday night brought very frigid conditions on the outside and the Maryville Scots made conditions a little more uncomfortable than the Raiders of Roane State wanted on the inside.

  • Raiderettes pick up split

     

    The Roane State Raiderettes split a pair of conference games over the weekend and now stand at 4-4 on the season.

    Roane State opened play at Jackson State on Friday and dropped a 68-59 decision to the Lady Generals. The Raiderettes bounced back on Saturday with a 69-54 victory at Columbia State.
