    What a difference a day makes.

    On Monday, the Midway Lady Green Wave needed a dramatic two-out, two-run home run from Alex Richardson in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 2-1 victory over Harriman. Twenty-four hours later, however, there would be little drama as the Lady Waves traveled to Harriman and torched the Lady Devils, 17-3.

  • Big inning sparks big win for OS

    Sometimes all it takes is one inning to decide the outcome of a game.

    That was the case Monday evening as Oliver Springs used a 12-run fourh inning to erase a 5-1 deficit and knock off visiting Coalfield, 14-10.

    In a game of great importance to both teams, the Harriman Blue Devils picked up a 3-0 victory over the Midway Green Wave in a District 3-A game played at Paper Maker Field Monday evening.

    “This game puts us in third place and now we’ve got to keep going,” Harriman’s Chris Works said following the victory.

  • Harriman hammers Wartburg, 16-6

    Seven was a lucky number for the Harriman Blue Devils Friday evening as Andy Adcox’s squad used a pair of 7-run innings in knocking off Wartburg, 16-6, at Paper Maker Field.

    Harriman’s first big inning came in the bottom of the second with Wartburg leading 1-0.

    In a showdown between two softball powerhouse programs, it was the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats swatting the Coalfield Lady Jackets by a 5-3 margin Monday afternoon at Oliver Springs’ Arrowhead Park. 

  • Warriors no match for Rockwood...

    The Rockwood Tigers reached the double digit plateau for runs scored for the 12th time this season Friday night and the result was a dominating 16-4 victory over visiting Bledsoe County.
    Friday’s win also marked the 10th time this season that Rockwood (11-6) has won a game by 10 runs or more.
    Bledsoe County did give the Tigers a battle for an inning, as both teams scored two runs, but Rockwood outscored the Warriors 14-1 over the next two innings to put the game away.

    Roane State Community College softball player Meriam Maynord was named an OC Sports National Junior College Athletic Association softball player of the week for games April 1-7.

  • Lady Waves pick up wins

    The Midway Lady Green Waves ran their district record to 4-0 following a narrow 2-1 win over visiting Harriman Monday. Harriman dropped to 2-3 with the loss. 

    Both teams still have the bulk of district games left to play, but the turnaround time for Midway and Harriman will be a short one as Midway visited Harriman Tuesday.

  • Midway knocks off Cosby, 9-8

    The Midway Green Wave beat the rain and the Cosby Eagles Thursday evening, 9-8.

    Thursday’s game was a seesaw affair that would see Midway’s game-winning run being scored on a dropped third strike of all things.
