  • Lady Jackets pick up easy wins

    The Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets enjoyed the comforts of home on Monday and Tuesday as Ronnie Ladd’s squad rolled to a pair of easy wins.
    On Monday, Kingston hosted Loudon in a District 4-AA contest and shutout the Lady Redskins, 10-0.
    Tuesday would see the Lady Jackets knock off Meigs County in a non district game, 8-1.

    Kingston’s Samantha Aycock fired a three-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts in picking up the shutout victory over the Lady Redskins.
    Offensively, Kingston played “Home Run Derby” as the Lady Jackets hit three home runs on the evening.

  • Bobcats wrap up title with three...

    The Oliver Springs Bobcats wrapped up the regular season District 4-A title Monday evening with a 3-2 victory at Wartburg.
    The title actually came with three district games left to play as the Bobcats improved to 9-0 in district play and no other team in District 4-A had less than four losses after Monday.
    For Bobcat head coach Tony Kegley, winning the title early has a lot of rewards. The biggest advantage is avoiding playing in the tournament’s play-in games on Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5.

  • Lady Waves top Harriman in 10...

    Fans at Harriman's Flour Mill Flats were treated to a thrilling game Wednesday evening as the Midway Lady Green Waves downed the host Lady Devils in 10 innings, 6-4.
    Much of Wednesday's contest would feature a home run contest between Lady Devil CF Haylee Goins and Midway's Danielle Borum. Both would hit two homers on the day with Harriman's Lindsey Higgins adding a fifth home run for good measure.
    Goins, who hit two long balls 24 hours earlier at Rockwood, opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo home run to left field that gave the Lady Devils a 1-0 lead.

    The Harriman Lady Blue Devils kicked off a busy and important week Monday evening with a 9-4 victory over Rockwood at home.

    Like most basketball players growing up, Rockwood’s Cleveland Davidson had a dream of playing college basketball. Davidson will now get a chance to live out that dream as the Tiger guard signed scholarship papers last week with Roane State Community College.

    When Harriman senior Lindsey Higgins started her high school career a lot of people believed it would one day end with her signing a college athletic scholarship.

    That day came Wednesday as Higgins signed a basketball scholarship with Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va.

  • CAK hands Jackets first loss

    After opening the season with six straight wins, the Kingston boys tennis team finally tasted defeat Wednesday following a 6-3 setback at the hands of defending TSSAA Class A/AA state champion Christian Academy of Knoxville (CAK).
    The Warriors took control early by winning five matches in singles. CAK’s wins came as Tanner Debord defeated Lucas Clower, 8-1; Koi Royal defeated Brandon Griffis, 8-4; Josh Bowden beat Quint Gasque, 8-3; Jonathan Carrol beat Timothy Smith, 8-3; and Daniel Martin knocked off Darian Sams, 8-5.
