  • Midway rallies past Cosby

    The Midway Green Wave closed out the regular season Thursday evening by rallying from three runs down in the final three innings to defeat Cosby, 7-6.

    Midway trailed 6-3 after four innings of play before tying the game with three runs in the fifth inning, and eventually winning the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

    The Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets celebrated Senior Night in style Thursday as Ronnie Ladd’s squad closed the regular season with an 11-2 victory over Grainger.

    Kingston started strong Thursday as the Lady Jackets tagged a runner out at home in the top of the first inning before scoring four runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.

  • Midway downs AAA Dragons, 7-5

    The Midway Lady Green Waves picked up a 7-5 win at Clinton last Friday to sweep the season series against the AAA Lady Dragons.

    Midway beat Clinton 12-11 at home several weeks ago using a three-run seventh inning rally for the win. Last Friday’s game gave Midway a 19-7-1 record.

  • Lady Jackets wrap up District 4-...

    The Kingston Lady Jackets traveled to Stone Memorial in their last regular season district game. Kingston needed the win to seal their fate as the number one team in District 4-AA, and a win is what the Lady Jackets got, winning by a final of 6-2.

    The Midway Lady Green Waves accomplished their mission to beat Grace Christian and become regular season cochampion of District 3-A with a 4-3 win Wednesday evening, but because of an unusual tie-breaking rule, the Lady Waves will end up as the second seed in the district tourney next week at Tellico Plains.

    With a regular season district title hanging in the balance, the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats emphatically put an exclamation point on an amazing regular season with an 8-0 win over the Oneida Lady Indians on the strength of a 15-strikeout performance by Courtney Jones. 

  • Two-out rallies lead Blue Devils...

    Scoring runs with two outs will win a lot of games, and that was the case for Harriman Tuesday evening as the Blue Devils scored all of their 13 runs with two outs in winning at Greenback, 13-1.

    Tuesday’s victory allowed the Blue Devils to finish their District 3-A portion of their schedule with a 6-4 record. That mark is good for third overall.

  • Tigers top Midway to keep title...

    The Rockwood Tigers entered this week needing two wins over the Midway Green Wave to claim their share of the District 3-A regular season title.

    Jake Witter’s squad got the first of those two wins on Tuesday when they defended their home turf, 9-1.

  • Falcons spoil Senior Night for...

    It was a game of missed opportunities on Senior Night for the Oliver Springs Bobcats baseball team, as seven base-runners were left stranded for the 'Cats, leaving no joy for the Bobcat nine in a 4-0 loss to the Fulton Falcons. 

    Fulton got on the board first with a run coming home in the opening inning while leaving a man stranded on third base.
