It took the Kingston All-Stars a couple of innings to get going in their Dixie Youth O Zone State Tournament opener against Dyersburg, but once the Jackets got going there was no stopping them as Kingston rolled to a 13-3 victory in only four innings.
The Kingston Optimist Club (KOC) football and cheerleading sign-ups for children 4-12 (as of Aug. 1) will be held every Saturday between now and Aug. 1 at the Cherokee Middle School ball field between 9 a.m. and noon.
The Kingston AAA All-Stars didn’t come home with the Dixie Youth District 8 AAA championship, but the Jackets did accomplish enough during their four tournament games to secure a spot in next weekend’s Dixie Youth AAA State Tournament in Mount Pleasant.
The first two days of the Dixie Youth District 8 AAA Tournament produced different results for the Harriman Blue Devils as they split their first two games.
Harriman opened play Friday with a tough 11-0 loss against Greenback, but the Devils bounced back Saturday with a 13-8 victory over Sweetwater.
The Blue Devils played Kingston Tuesday and will take on Madisonville Wednesday in the round robin tournament. Harriman must win one of those games to have any chance of advancing to next week’s Dixie Youth AAA State Tournament in Mount Pleasant.
