  • Lady 'Cats roll in tourney...

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats opened postseason play Tuesday night with a dominating 58-35 victory over Jellico in the first round of the 2014 District 4-A Tournament played at Terry L. Hacker Gymnasium.

    Oliver Springs never trailed Tuesday and had the contest well in hand by halftime.

  • Kingston takes two from Midway

     

    The Roane County High School gymnasium was rocking Friday night as Midway rode into town to finish the season series with the Yellow Jackets.

    Midway took both the girls and boys games in December against Kingston, but the Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets were up to the task Friday night, winning both games to split the season series.

  • Tigers take down Bulldogs

     

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers used a 15-2 swing in the final period to come from behind for a 35-29 win over the Wartburg Lady Bulldogs Friday night at Wartburg. 

  • Tigers sweep Green Wave to end...

     

    The 2013-14 regular season came to a close Monday night as the Rockwood Tigers and Lady Tigers picked up a pair of District 3-A wins at Midway by almost the same score.

    The Lady Tigers took the floor first and knocked off the Lady Waves, 58-50. The final game of the evening went to overtime before Rockwood picked up a 58-51 victory.

  • Bobcats peaking at tourney time

    Basketball is a tournament sport and every team hopes to peak at just the right time.

    The Oliver Springs Bobcats might just being doing that as Friday night Tony Ingram’s squad won their third straight game with a 65-50 victory over regular season District 4-A champion Oneida.

  • No luck for Jackets against Irish

     

    With third place in District 4-AA on the line, the Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets dropped a dispiriting 44-26 outing against the Knoxville Catholic Lady Irish Thursday evening. 

  • Defense shines for Midway in...

     

    The Midway Green Wave began the stretch run of the regular season with a pair of wins over Coalfield Thursday night at Midway. 

    The Lady Waves pushed their record to 8-13 with a convincing 62-36 win over Coalfield. 

  • Tigers pick up wins at Oakdale

     

    The Rockwood Tigers swept the Oakdale Eagles on Thursday night spoiling Senior Night for the Eagles.

  • Raiders split series with...

    The Marshalltown Community College Tigers traveled nearly 800 miles from Iowa to play four games over the weekend at Roane State.

    The series had mixed results for both teams as the Raiders opened the series Friday with a 5-2 victory and closed the series Saturday with a 5-4 win.

    The middle games went to the Tigers. Marshalltown won the second game on Friday, 7-6, before taking game one on Saturday, 5-1.

    When the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats were sitting on a 4-13 record after a 41-37 loss to Unicoi County on Dec. 28, a District 4-A Championship seemed unlikely to happen this season for Michelle Christopher’s squad.
