  • Lady Devils stoned by Lady...

    Harriman pitcher Haley Goldston shutout the Stone Memorial Lady Panthers for eight innings Monday evening, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough for the Lady Devils as Stone Memorial scored a run in the bottom of the ninth inning to take a 1-0 victory over the Lady Devils.

  • Lady Tigers bomb Webb, 16-1

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers bounced back from their first loss of the season Monday evening by pounding Webb School of Knoxville in only three innings, 16-1.

    Rockwood (9-1) jumped out on the Lady Spartans with seven runs in the first inning, five more in the second before ending the game quickly in the third inning with four runs.

  • Jackets edge Carter, 6-5

    The Kingston Yellow Jackets didn’t exactly tear the cover off the baseball on Thursday against Carter, but Bruce Robinette’s squad did take advantage of 12 walks in picking up a 6-5 victory over the Hornets in a tournament played at Loudon.
    Kingston’s first run came thanks to walks and a wild pitch in the top of the first inning. Preston Edmonds was one of three Jackets to receive a free pass in the opening frame and he would eventually score on a wild pitch to give Kingston and early 1-0 lead.

    While the weather is just starting to warm up in East Tennessee, the Rockwood Tigers offense has been red-hot at the start of the 2014 season.

    The Rockwood Tigers soccer team suffered a pair of close losses against Gatlinburg-Pittman and Alcoa last Thursday and Friday.

    Thursday would see the Tigers hosting Gatlinburg-Pittman, but the visiting Highlanders used a strong first half to pick up a 3-2 victory.

  • Kelley's pitching, Hall...

    The Midway Lady Green Waves opened the district portion of the schedule and welcomed the Meigs County Lady Tigers to District 3-A with a 1-0 shutout win Thursday at Midway.

    With the win over Meigs County, the Lady Waves improved to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in the district.

    Payton Kelley had a shaky pitching appearance Monday against Alcoa, walking the only two batters she faced, but she would toss a gem against the Lady Tigers.

  • Soccer Jackets suffer shutout

    Thursday night at Dr. Nat Sugarman Memorial Field was the time and place for the matchup between the Cumberland County Jets and the Kingston Yellow Jackets in a fierce and competitive soccer match.

  • Lady Devils shine at Oneida

    Thursday evening would see the Harriman Lady Blue Devils put together an all-around solid performance in picking up an 8-0 victory at Oneida.

    Offensively, the Lady Devils pounded out 14 hits on the day with Haley Goldston (3-5, 2B, 3 RBIs, 1 run), Abigail Higgins (2-4, 2 2Bs, 1 RBI), Marilyn Franklin (3-5, 1 run) and Ivory Peddicord (3-4, 1 RBI, 1 run) doing most of the damage.

  • Falcons pull away from Bobcats,...

    For four innings, the Oliver Springs Bobcats held their own against the Fulton Falcons, but an eight-run fifth inning proved to be the undoing of the Bobcats in a 16-6 defeat on Thursday night.

    Fulton brought home two runs on a fielding error before leaving men on first and second to close the top of the first inning.

  • Grubb's big night leads...

    Dannon Grubb had an evening to remember Thursday as the Rockwood senior went 4-of-6 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, a home run, six RBIs, two runs scored and four stolen bases in a 19-4 Tiger victory at Coalfield.
