    Midway pitchers Justin Dutton and Christian Moore combined for a no-hitter Saturday afternoon in leading the Green Wave to an 11-1 victory over Mount Pisgah.

    Dutton pitched the first three innings, allowing one run on four walks while recording three strikeouts. Moore pitched the final three innings, allowing no hits to go along with eight strikeouts.

  • Raiders split with Vol State


    A lot can change from one game to the next in baseball. That was the case Saturday afternoon for the Roane State Raiders in their doubleheader with Volunteer State.

    In game one, Roane State dropped a high-scoring shootout, 14-10, but in game two, the Raiders defense and pitching turned things around and shutout the Pioneers, 6-0.

    The Rockwood Lady Tigers tennis team traveled to Meigs County last week and picked up an impressive 7-2 victory over the Lady Tigers from Decatur.

    Rockwood won five of the six matches on the day in doubles while winning two out of three matches in doubles.

    The Roane County Knights lacrosse team recently recorded its first win of the season a 8-3 victory against Upperman High School. 

    The Knights, who are in their second season, finally got the monkey off their back with a convincing win at Cookeville. It was their first win in TSLA lacrosse.

    Thursday night called for rainy conditions, but the sun stayed out for the Highlanders of Scott County to travel to play the Rockwood Tigers in a soccer match. 

  • Lady Jackets fall at Alcoa, 9-6

    The Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets played well offensively Thursday in their District 4-AA contest at Alcoa, but defense was a different story as six Lady Jackets errors led to six unearned runs in a 9-6 loss to the Lady Tornadoes.

    Errors led directly to Alcoa’s first two runs in the bottom of the first inning as an error with two outs allowed to two Lady Tornadoes to score.

  • Lady 'Cats edge Harriman, 1...

    Fans attending Thursday’s non district softball contest between Harriman and Oliver Springs were expecting a showdown between all-state caliber pitchers in Harriman’s Haley Goldston and Oliver Springs’ Courtney Jones.

    The duo didn’t disappoint as they baffled hitters for much of the evening, but in the end Jones and the Lady ’Cats used an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning to ease by the Lady Devils, 1-0.
