  • TMSAA Sectional tournaments...

     

    As few as three and as many as five middle school teams from Roane County are hoping to burn up the roads in Sevier County starting Saturday with the opening round of the TMSAA East Tennessee Sectionals.

    Three teams from Roane County have already secured berths in the AA tourney at Pigeon Forge. 

  • Kingston suffers rough night at...

     Despite a 5-point lead at half-time, an 8-point second half  by the Kingston Lady Jackets caused them to drop a 42-35 decision on Monday evening.

    William Blount got out to the early 5-0 lead, but an 8-0 run by the Lady Jackets paced by six points from Kalli Sampson gave them the early 8-7 lead at the end of the first period. 

  • Mt. Pisgah splits with Fairview...

     

    The Mt. Pisgah Patriots traveled to Athens last Thursday to take on Fairview Christian Academy, but the trip was not a good one as the Falcons topped the Patriots, 72-61.

    The Patriots did bounce back at home on Friday with a 54-36 victory over Cedar View.

  • Cherokee teams roll in 4-AAA...

     

    The Cherokee Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets opened TMSAA Area 4-AAA Tournament action Monday evening at home with a pair of victories.

    Both teams would win by impressive final margins Monday, but how they got to that point was totally different.

    The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission heard a summary on several of the state’s recently completed hunting seasons and honored one of the state’s most well-known anglers during its first meeting of 2014.

    The Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy Lady Patriots split a pair of games on Thursday and Friday.

    The loss came on Thursday when the Lady Patriots traveled to Athens and dropped a 37-21 decision against Fairview.

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats overcame a sluggish performance at times to pick up a huge 52-32 District 4-A win over the Coalfield Yellow Jackets on Friday evening. 

    The Lady Jackets started off strong to get out of the first period with a 10-4 lead to generate a lot of positive buzz early on for the home team.

    The Rockwood Middle School Tigers kept their season alive Saturday afternoon with an exciting 30-27 victory over Harriman in the consolation game of the TMSAA Area 4-AA Tournament at Midway Middle School.

  • Meigs County knocks off Midway

     

    The newest member of District 3-A, the Meigs County Tigers completed the season sweep of Midway with a 69-47 win in the girls game and a 68-55 win in the boys contest. 

    The Tigers had won both games in Decatur before Christmas break.
