    The Harriman Middle School boys basketball team didn’t achieve their ultimate goal of winning the East Tennessee Class AA Sectional Championship, but Allen Hickman’s squad came mighty close as they dropped a 47-29 decision Saturday afternoon in Pigeon Forge against a powerful squad from Grace Christian Academy.

    It wasn’t easy, but the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats downed the Oneida Lady Indians 53-49 Friday night in a game that decided the regular season district title between the two teams.

  • Langley signs with Tennessee...

    Amy Langley started playing golf her freshman year at Kingston and four years later the Lady Jacket senior has improved enough to sign scholarship papers with Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens.

    “I’m really excited,” Langley said. “I was just playing to be playing to start, but it was my sophomore year that I thought this could happen. It feels great to know all my hard work has paid off.”

  • Mt. Pisgah wins two

    The Mt. Pisgah boys basketball team closed out last week with a pair of victories.

    On Thursday, the Patriots traveled to Athens and picked up a 53-44 victory over Friendship Christian Academy. On Friday, the Patriots traveled to Blountville and knocked off Tri-Cities Christian Schools, 65-51.

    The Midway Green Wave and Rockwood Tigers finished the regular season Monday with a pair of games at Rockwood. 

  • County rivals split games

    The second meeting of the season between Midway and Kingston had the same results as the first, but the final scores were different.

  • Tigers wear down Greenback

    The Rockwood Tigers and Lady Tigers closed out the season series at Greenback Tuesday night by splitting a pair of games with the Cherokees.
    The evening started with Rockwood’s McKenzie Lee pumping in a career-high 28 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Lady Tigers to pick up the victory as Greenback held on for a 54-48 win.
    In the boys game, the Tigers used a dominating second half to pick up a 54-35 victory over the Cherokees.
    Rockwood closes out the regular season tonight (Monday) with a home game against Midway.

  • Mt. Pisgah picks up split

    The Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy Patriots recently split a pair of games at home against Cedar View Christian School and Temple Baptist Academy.
    Cedar View was up first last Friday and the Patriots used a strong first half in knocking off the Seahawks, 58-43.
    Monday’s game against Temple Baptist didn’t go as well as the Royal Crusaders knocked off the Patriots, 59-57.

    It wasn’t quite a first quarter knockout, but the Patriots came out on fire and were never seriously threatened in picking up a 15-point victory over the Seahawks.

      Two Roane County teams traveled to Pigeon Forge Wednesday evening for the TMSAA Class AA East Tennessee Sectional quarterfinals, but only one survived the evening and advanced to the tournament’s semifinals.
