  • Harriman softball team falls...

    The Harriman  Lady Blue Devils travelled to Oliver Springs on Friday night to take on the Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats in some softball action.
    To say the contest was close it was an understatement as the Lady Devils were one strike away from picking up the 2-1 victory in the region contest.
    “I admire their never give up attitude,” said Lady Bobcat head coach Matt Headen.
    The Lady Bobcats started out their season 0-5 but have charged back to make to pick up seven-straight victories to bring their season record to 7-5.

  • Green Wave plays hard in loss to...

    The Midway Green Wave baseball team dropped a 15-7 District 3A decision to the Grace Christian Academy (GCA) Rams Monday evening.
    "We played hard and hit the ball all the way through the lineup," said Midway Coach George Nichols. “I am encouraged about this team."
    GCA scored five runs in the top of the first inning. With one out, Logan Harbin belted a solo home run for the 1-0 lead.
    Noah Gent singled, but Huff gave up a walk, a two-run double to Taylor Lawson, an RBI triple to Eli Nordham and an RBI double to Landon Crumbly.

    There is still time left before the Rockwood Tigers make the trip to Lookout Valley to compete with some of the best teams in the state, but the team is already in fine form.
    Rockwood’s Lucas McDermott finished 4-4 and recorded three runs, while Jimmy Vanosdale had two runs to help hand Sunbright a 17-0 win in front of a crowd of about 200 cheering fans Monday afternoon.

    The Midway Lady Waves travelled north to take on Region 2A opponent Oakdale Friday evening and left with an 8-4 victory followed by a 10-7 defeat.
    “It’s all about how you finish,” said Midway head coach Rob Viar. “The girls battled hard. We finally got back to hitting the ball.”
    Midway 8, Oakdale 4: A four-run deficit was not enough to keep the Lady Waves down, as coach Viar’s team stormed back to win 8-4 in game one.

  • Rockwood, Harriman split...

    Jimmy Vanosdale shut out the Harriman Blue Devils 5-0 on one hit with 13 strikeouts to earn a split in the District 3A doubleheader Tuesday at Mike "Brillo" Miller Sports Complex, after the visitors posted a 3-1 victory in game one.
    The doubleheader was necessitated by Monday's rainout at PaperMaker Ball Park in Harriman.
    Harriman 3, Rockwood 1: The Blue Devils scored an unearned run off Rockwood starter Lucas McDermott in the top of the first.

  • Oneida sweeps doubleheader from...

    There was no joy in the “Land of OS” for the Bobcat nation, as they were handed a pair of defeats by the Oneida Indians on the baseball diamond courtesy of a 5-0, game 1 rout, and 2-0 hard-fought game two loss.
    Oneida 5, Oliver Springs 0:  Jonathan Wilson must have taken the old Theodore Roosevelt adage of, “Speak softly and carry a big stick” to heart as Wilson blasted two homers for the Oneida Indians in a 5-0 win over the Bobcats.

  • Rockwood tennis teams split with...

    The Rockwood  tennis teams played Stone Memorial on Monday and hosted Pigeon Force Tuesday. The Lady Tigers (4-1) with 7-2 wins over both SMHS and Pigeon Forge, while the Tigers (0-5) with 6-0 losses to both teams.

  • McClain signs with Bryan College

    Bryan College head coach Don Rekoske has seen a lot in his 20 years as a head coach at the collegiate level, but he witnessed something Friday afternoon that told him a lot about his newest signee, Harriman senior Isaiah McClain.

  • Kingston outslugs Alcoa 8-7

    In a contest that featured five lead changes and four ties over the course of seven innings, the Kingston Yellow Jackets continued their string of recent successes with a thrilling 9-8 victory over the Alcoa Tornadoe. It was Bryce Woody's 2-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning that produced the final margin of victory.

  • Kingston finishes second in...

    The Kingston Lady Jacket softball team finished second to Knox Halls in the Eastman Invitational over the weekend in Kingsport posting a 4-3 record.
    White House 2, Kingston 0: The Lady Jackets opened the tournament with a 2-0 loss to White House, who scored their only runs in the top of the fourth inning.
    Kingston didn't have a base runner in the contest.
    Emily Workman was the losing pitcher in the contest, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
