    Sometimes blowouts happen and there’s not a lot that can be done to keep the score down.

    That was the case at Rockwood’s Mike “Brillo” Miller Sports Complex Tuesday evening as the Tigers soccer team rolled to an 18-1 victory over Austin-East.

  • Tigers take two from Blue Devils


    Roane County’s fiercest baseball rivalry resumed this week as Harriman and Rockwood played a pair of games with the Tigers picking up a sweep.

    The first game was played Monday at Rockwood and would see the Tigers use a 12-run fifth inning to pick up a 14-9 victory. The Tigers finished the sweep with a 7-5 victory at Harriman on Tuesday.

     Hockey isn’t a sport played by a lot of kids in Roane County, but Midway sophomore Drake Lamm is making some noise on his skates.

    Lamm plays for the Knoxville Junior Ice Bears and his team recently won the U18 USA Hockey’s Tier II National Championship in Wayne, New Jersey.

    On Thursday, April 10, the Oliver Springs ace right-hander tossed a perfect game in leading the Lady ’Cats to a 9-0 victory over the Lady Tigers.

    Good Friday turned out to be a good Friday for the Midway baseball team, as the Green Wave traveled to Sweetwater and downed the Wildcats in an afternoon affair, 5-2.

    The Rockwood Tigers celebrated Easter weekend with a strong second place showing in the 2014 Yellow Jacket Classic played at Lookout Valley.

    The Tigers advanced to Saturday’s championship game by winning a total of three games on Thursday and Friday.

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats captured the 2014 Rockwood Invitational championship Saturday night with a 2-0 victory over Harriman.

    Saturday’s title game victory was a bit of revenge for the Lady ’Cats as they had dropped a 2-1 decision to the Lady Devils earlier in the tournament.
