    Coming off a disappointing 28-0 loss to Loudon to end the regular season, the Kingston Yellow Jackets put together a phenomenal performance Friday night in blowing out Polk County on the road, 49-14.

  • TSSAA playoffs start Friday night

    After a grueling regular season, three teams from Roane County will be starting postseason play Friday night as Midway, Kingston and Rockwood have all qualified for the playoffs.
    All three teams will be on the road facing teams that have been a thorn in their side in recent years in the playoffs.
    For Midway, the Green Wave will be traveling to Cloudland in the first round of the TSSAA Class 1A playoffs. Midway has played at Cloudland three times in the playoffs since 2001, but the Green Wave have yet to pick up a victory.

  • TVAA wraps up regular season

    The final week of the regular season for the Tennessee Valley Athletic Association yielded no big surprises as the division leaders all remained in first place and now the championship games are set to be played on Saturday, Nov. 10.
    But first, the cheerleader championships will take place this Saturday at the Roane County High School gym. The first group of competitors will take the floor at 10 a.m. This is the fourth year the league has had the cheerleader competition.

    It had to happen sometime, and after two years, eight months and 20 days, the Rockwood Middle School boys basketball team has finally lost a basketball game, as Bryan Powers’ squad dropped a 38-35 decision Monday to York in the 2012 Hollis Eble Tournament championship game.

    In a night when almost everything went right for Rockwood, and almost everything went wrong for Midway, the Tigers pounded the Green Wave 35-0 in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

    The Harriman Blue Devils did not have the season that they wanted, but they were looking to end the season on a high note with a good showing against the Greenback Cherokees.  Harriman (1-9) gave it their all and fought hard, but just could not match up with Greenback (9-1), losing by a final score of 42-0.
