  • Lady Jackets roll past Sunbright...

     

    Tuesday night's soccer match-up between the Kingston Lady Jackets and the Sunbright Lady Tigers was an overwhelming 12-0 win for the Lady Jackets.

  • Lady ’Cats hold off Harriman, 2-1

     

    The Oliver Springs Lady Bobcats soccer team ran their season record to 3-1 Tuesday evening with a hard fought 2-1 victory at Harriman.

    While Oliver Springs was playing their fourth game of the season, Harriman was playing their opening game of the 2013 season.

  • Dove, Canada Goose season open...

    Dove season opens on Sunday, Sept. 1 at noon (local time), which marks the annual start of one of Tennessee’s most long-standing outdoor sports traditions.
    Tennessee’s 2013 season will again be divided into three segments: Sept. 1 through Sept. 26; Oct. 12 through Oct. 27; and Dec. 19 through Jan. 15. Hunting times, other than opening day, are one-half hour before sunrise until sunset for all other days.

  • Palmer promoted to Hachi Dan

    The International Isshinryu Karate Association (IIKA), at the request of Grandmaster Tommy True, promoted Art Palmer to the rank of Hachi Dan (8th Degree Black Belt).

    The 2013 season got off to a fantastic start for three Roane County teams last week as Harriman, Oliver Springs and Midway all picked up wins while Rockwood dropped an overtime thriller against Oneida.

  • Cherokee runs record to 2-0

    The Cherokee Middle School Yellow Jackets ran their record to 2-0 with a 28-18 win over Midway Middle Thursday at Dr. Nat Sugarman Field in Kingston.
    The Jackets have yet to play within their classification in the Clinch Valley Conference, but do have the two wins over Roane County teams against Harriman and Midway.

  • RMS cruises past Wartburg, 44-0

    One week after opening the season with a disappointing loss against Oliver Springs, the Rockwood Middle School Tigers bounced back Thursday night with an impressive 44-0 victory at Wartburg.

  • Limited sandhill crane hunting...

    The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission voted to approve the state’s first sandhill crane hunting season during its August meeting which concluded Friday.  
    The inaugural season will be held From Nov. 28 through Jan. 1, 2014. It is more conservative than what is allowed by the USFWS.  

  • Ground game leads OSMS past...

    Oliver Springs Middle School kept things simple and it worked to perfection last Thursday evening in a 32-16 win over the Coalfield Yellow Jackets.
    The Bobcats took the opening drive and started a theme that would continue all night. Coalfield would see a dose of Landon Everett and Logan Kelley right at them and they had no answer.
